n/m $50 PER player, you're smoking crack mang.   :psyduck:

Suck it up bro, this shit is 100% SERIOUS now. You have an entire year to crackdown and turn yourself into a beast.

Evo doesn't want to take us seriously yet? Fuck it, we'll still be here.

If we get the same numbers as this year (45) people, that's $2,250, or $750 per person on your team.

GET FUCKING HYPE.

lawl stafoo.  it's obviously nearly impossible to say, beat out the current top players who would most certainly take 1st.  if there aren't any cash prizes after that, it's like, 50 people playing, but only 10 people who are really go nna stand a chance.

Fuck that. Team NY can kiss my ass.

well a whole year to get it rocking.  Inviting the jp's to the american champs.  Very good start.  Arly if you need any help setting this up let me know, and I'll do what I can.  Also, what about the singles championship?
Back in full FX, again.  Getting back into practice, well, that's another thing all together.

Hmm. I don't want to be greedy or anything, so I'd cap the Melty Cup at 8 teams. Otherwise it'd take forever to complete.

Technically, one team per region, but regions can always be subdivided. I.e.: NJ / NY.

Since this isn't going to replace singles, and we are only looking for one winner, how about just make it SBO style?

Also fix the rules because right now something like...

NY vs CA

Zar plays Arlieth, Zar wins.
Zar plays Arlieth, Zar wins.

NY just won two so they advance!

...could happen.  No its not what you were thinking but by the rules that could.  The thing is whatever the rules are supposed to be can't be determined the way they are.  Are teams round robin or elimination style?  Does the 2/3 mean each player plays 2/3 or each team plays 2/3?  These things need to be addressed and clear.  I'd also suggest removing the 2/3ness since it's three people already so it works as a 3/5, just with player changes...assuming elimination style.  Round robin style would just take way too long.

There is a lot of time left to decide these things, but the earlier the better, especially if there are major changes like team size and team restrictions.

On the topic of restrictions, players playing for a different region they live in should have a good reason of doing so, like recently moving, or playing with that group more.  Keep in mind this is a year to come so people who just recently moved now are going to be in their current area for a year...unless they move again that is.  Either some specific guidelines on a no restriction rule or a rule should be said soon though.  Something like must have played in an area for two of the last three months to count as part of that area or something.

lol @ greedy comment.  you sure you gon' win?

I don't think the 8-team cap is a good idea.  By placing a limit, you may widen the gap between the veterans and the beginners - thus killing a lot of possible MB community growth.  The beginners will feel like they don't have a chance to make the 8, so they won't bother practicing.  The veterans will get better as the beginners will stop trying.  Of course, it can work the other way around where lots of beginners quit MB, but the ones that stay through it become serious players.  I guess it all boils down to quantity or quality.  But I think if you really want to expand the Melty Blood scene, it's best to do everything possible to encourage all new players to get better - which includes making a larger team cap limit.  If it was possible to do a 16-team 2v2 tournament at Evo, time should allow a 10-team 3v3 tournament, at least.  but yeah yeah, I wasn't at Evo, I wouldn't know how tiring it was be in a 32-man tournament, etc

maybe I'm looking into all of this too much.  either way.. I hope you consider my feedback, man.

The greedy comment was a throwback to how Evolution kept taking entries for 3s this year at the cost of compromising the format, from 2/3 into single match. I don't want the same thing to happen to the Melty Cup. If there really are like, 12 teams all wanting in though, we can work something out.

Also: I'll handle it, Zaelar, no worries.

Also, isn't the point of the name being "US Championships" meaning that we only want the best players to enter? As much as we don't want to discourage beginners, its just as bad if the tournament had competitors who can't tech out of an invalid combo, isn't it?

Then we'll just have to make him not qualify for NorCal team.
Psh, the Hell you could ever pull that off. Seems like by next year, if people step their game up, we could have as many as 7 really good people in "NorCal":
Magz
Spirit Juice
Sims
Shobes
Tsubasa
Lain (TRAITOR)
Me

We'd have to decide if we want a well rounded team or just the 3 best players.

Arly was talking about maybe making the region North Pacific, though, which would include a few more people, most notably you-know-who.
