The greedy comment was a throwback to how Evolution kept taking entries for 3s this year at the cost of compromising the format, from 2/3 into single match. I don't want the same thing to happen to the Melty Cup. If there really are like, 12 teams all wanting in though, we can work something out.

Thanks for the clarification.  lookin' forward to Melty Cup for sure : )

If necessary, I can allow multiple teams per region, to better represent the strength of each scene. I can see both norcal and socal having two teams each, as well as EC.

Are you going to Sac Con

Why would I waste my time to go to an anime con for a tournament. Granted 3-5 of us Mbreaders will be there, but an anime con. It isn't worth it, I'd rather spend my money going to a West Toast.

Lol, if your thinking because they neglect me of the nor-cal scene, it doesn't matter. Veteru will need 2 more members, won't he?

There is a simple solution to all this team limit stuff. Have free qualifiers.

If the entree fee is $150 per team, let the scrubs enter.  You can lock entrees a week or two before evo, make the bracket, and only allow last minute entrees that fill in the byes.  Early matches can be played through 3 or so setups to make it fast, then have the top 4 or so played with commentary.  This isn't replacing singles which won't have such a steep entree fee where everyone can enter.

I'd suggest having one qualifier for each region, north/south/east/west, preferably just do them at the evo tournaments in each area if its the same as this year.  Whoever wins each one gets seeded as that regions leading team and everyone else gets random.  Another option is the 4 region leaders and 4 other teams who have to qualify at Vegas to get into the last 8, with losses reset, so its basically the first tournament(4 teams who qualified can't enter), and the top 4 all get to enter the second tournament with the 4 qualifiers.

And even if i was gonna be there, the two guys from Chi town area i would choose are prolly not going either, so what's the point? =/

Tis a shame, unless AH makes Evo 2K8, i wont be there. :-\

And ill be surprised if you get a midwest team at all...

Yo, so are the regions listed in the first post final or close to it?  I'm in the middle of Missouri, I can fight my way onto the Chicago team if I want and if the region team captain is cool with it right?
You had me at Bon Jovi.

I really want to enter Evo 08, but I'm in like Canada... How would that work? Could I join up with a US team or would I have to somehow qualify with a team in Canada or what? Or could I hold a qualifer in Canada and Canada could be a region by itself.

Okay.  So, expanding the Melty Blood scene is your goal?  Hmm... I totally missed out on both MB tournaments at evo this year after being peaced out by sickness / laziness.
I did however inadvertently try to annex the Vet-coast, and in my current reign, I will step down from dictatorship position and give it to Vet, as long as he plays more and I can train up with him and be on the team (assuming I have $50 to throw down).
This decision is also due to the feigned interest for MBAC at the NW anime convention Kumori-con, where nobody but one guy showed up and played in practice mode.  Fucking scene!  You guys can do better.
That is all.
