8/18 C3 Presents the August Adios Tournament.
« on: August 02, 2007, 05:57:24 PM »
Okay, I'm NOT Renegade, but I don't think he would mind me posting this.

44710 Cape Court #118
Ashburn, VA 20147

Right now, they're deliberating on how they are doing tournaments.

Quote
a)Strictly casual event. Pay the venue fee, casual as long as you damn want, spontaneous tourneys are bound to happen.

b) Regular monthly. 5$ tourneys, 8$ venue fee.

c) "All you can eat" monthly, pay a flat 30$ per head, join as many tourneys as you want. We would run a ton more tourneys with this style though, even random stuff like XvSF, TTT, and A3. SSB and Crews are also possibilities. I would also have set prizes for winners based on TOTAL entries to event and entries to that tournament.

But what we did for Melty Blood last time was just connect 2 laptops on  one table and played there. We had a $5 entry fee for this.

Anyway, we need to discuss times and the such here. What time do you guys thing we should start this thing? Last time we kinda started late and ended at 12:00 AM

Next time you run a Melty PC tourney, be careful about using Laptops. Since a lot of them are widescreen and LCD, it can drastically change your perception of distances and you incur LCD lag as well(+8 to +12 ms lag). Use a VGA output to a CRT monitor.

we'll start it eariler like... maybe 4-5pm... 5 dollars.. double elimination..

yea.. let's try do something about the laptops.. so we can make it lag free.. i had some problems with it... but it only seem minor.. but those minor points could make or break for someone.. and to miss a combo and the airthrow part is really disheartening sometimes...

so... listen to the Head mod here.. he knows what he's talking about(not saying you don't) i just be able to have tourney without someone  coming up "why my combos miss" or the crazy question of the hour " why did wara's 236 C not give advantage" so let' make it so these crazy questions don't happen again or minimize (cuse there will always be complainers lol)

so make it happen yo!!
Basically... kind of a big deal....

Yeah, that happened with my monitor recently.

But if you run it windowed mode it ends up just fine.

Yes I know, but it didn't seem as bad as full screen.

I'll have to look into connections to my TV somehow I guess.

This is the monitor.

I'd imagine you just plug the CRT monitors in to the port on the back of the laptop.

But I never had a laptop, so I dunno if laptops have this most handy feature  :V

funny thing about lag is that you never notice lag in till the lag is gone.

i understand what you are sayin .. but man there were  alot of people who really couldn't  understand why they were missing shit ... me included... i usually don't miss that badly on the whiff a combos with shiki... no frame adv for wara is really big deal... sinc waras 236 C is madd good sir.. just because you didn't feel it my man.. dosen't mean that we didn't feel it... but i want to further put it to rest... and get the neccessary tools.. so that way i don't people coming to me about problems with the lag.. Or more lag is put on. And in fact, thats more confusing, because you think the lag is gone because everything is reacting differently, but you're actually even worse off.

Another thing about lag. Its really hard to prove, but I definitely felt that shit wouldn't come out on my Laptop too, but I blamed the converter. It may be a combination of both for me. Anyway, Next time, We got the extra moniters, we an set the laptops there so no one can bitch. (^.^)v I'll also get a new converter, so all possible sources of error will be eliminated.

I swear it's like I was the only one who complained about this last time lol.  the widescreen view really threw off my distance judgement and it took me a few matches to get used to it.

the wara 236C extra recovery time is just a verB change, luckily Millionz tipped me off about that before I had to find out for myself lol.

Lag I didn't really notice except at the pre-match screen (where it doesn't matter) but it might have been the reason I screwed up so many air throws for ending combos early on.

I'll just be sure to play some casuals before the tournament this time so I don't get any nasty surprises.  I'm sure everything will be fine.  It's nice that videos can be easily recorded and I don't like to support older versions of games too much.

The villian is coming.

Oh noes!

Anyway, yeah sorry about my laptop being widescreen. I can see how that gets in the way, I play windowed mode a lot at home here, but I don't think people would be happy looking at that small bit.

Well, I don't have lag, cause when I played Re-Act on my PC (CRT monitor) and my Laptop, I could feel no difference on anything, not on Touhou or Melty Blood, so the only issue with using my laptop monitor is just the proportions D:.

Anyone know of any 1 frame links that require visual-confirmation to hit? Then we can figure out if it lags or not.

Or if anyone has GG#r for PC, then I can tell if it lags.
