FFA's bi-weekly airdasher tournaments ARE BACK!

I took a long hiatus, but now it's time to get these started again.

They're mostly what you're used to if you attended our previous tournaments, but now we've added a new game because of the hype from these SoCal players:
Guilty Gear & Melty Blood at 2PM
BlazBlue at 5PM
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom at 5:30PM

We've already held the first one of these and it went really well. The next one will start on Sunday, August 22nd.

Family Fun Arcade
10363 Balboa Blvd.
Granada Hills, CA 91344
(818) 360-0419

Also, check out the dustloop mirror of this thread at: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9338-FFA-Airdasher-Bi-weekly-Tournaments-(BB-GG-MB-etc.)-Season-2010
And our new and improving website: http://www.ffa-united.com/

The format:

We will run it on FFAs arcade cabinet, which has PS2 ports if you'd like to play on your pad.

-Double Elimination Bracket.
-Counter-pick for character allowed on loss.

Melty Blood: Actress Again:

$3 to enter ($2 pot, $1 house)
The game will be run on PS2 consoles.

-Pausing during the game will be counted as a loss of the round for the pauser (unless there's a very good reason). The amount of meter will carry over just as it was when the game was paused.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift:
The tournament will start at 5PM.
$7 to enter ($5 Pot, $2 house)
BBCS will be run on PS3 consoles.
Pot will be split 70%/20%/10% (1st/2nd/3rd) or if there's a gigantic (64ish) amount of people 65%/20%/10%/5% (1st/2nd/3rd/4th).

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars:
The tournament will start at 5PM
$6 to enter ($4 pot, $2 house)
It will be held on the Wii, bring your own joysticks.

Rules
-Will be playing the US version of TvC:UAS on the Wii
-Double elimination
-Normal sets are best 2 out of 3 games, Winner's, Loser's, and Grand Finals are best 3 out of 5 games OR 4 out of 7
-Standard settings (start w/1 bar, 99 seconds, regular damage)
-Winner keeps characters, loser can change characters or keep current characters
-Pre-match character switching (hold down OR hold P button before battle begins) is legal and player has to stick with current character.
-All characters are legal INCLUDING PTX-40A and Gold Lightan.
-No freeze, invisibility glitches, etc. or player who initiates glitch forfeits a round.
-Stage select is legal. If the fire stage is picked both players must agree to fight on it.
-Will be played on whatever screen ratio matches the television: if we're playing on 4:3 TV, the station must be assigned to 4:3. Likewise, if we're playing on a widescreen TV, it must be on 16:9 aspect ratio.
-All kinds of controllers, sticks (wired, wireless, Gamecube, PS2 converted to GC, classic controllers, etc.), and button mapping are all allowed, but turbo functionality is illegal.

Thanks to RoyalFlush for hosting this tournament.

If for some reason we have to do a Round Robin, there are a couple different ways of doing it. Here are the rules you can expect:
-In a Round Robin, everyone has a chance to fight everyone.
-The number of matches you win will count (So 2-0 is recorded and 2-1 is recorded). That means even if you lost you can still get 1 point.
-At the end of the Round Robin, the top two players go to Grand Finals where it runs like Grand Finals from a Double Elimination Bracket (the person with 2nd most points has to win two sets, the person with 1st most points has to win one set).
-If there was a tie for 1st place, both players go to grand finals, but with no advantage. This will be only one set (possibly two sets but both players would be even), but 3/5 matches (or higher depending on the game).
-If there was a tie for 2nd place, there will be an automatically decided tie-breaker on who gets to go to grand finals (usually it's who won between the two player's matches during the Round Robin).
-Round Robins are only done if there is a really small amount of people for a game (like 4, 5 or 6), or it can be incorporated into a Swiss Bracket if there's more than 64 people. Both cases are unlikely.

Most Round Robin tournaments are fuzzy on if they do Grand Finals or if they give only 1 point total for all matches put together, so I figured I'd just want to clear that up ahead of time.

Side tournaments not listed here are encouraged, just please try and ask me ahead of time. If for some reason I am lax on an update, the next tournament will be 2 Sundays after this one (9/5).

If you have questions about rules, comments about how the tournament went, or notice something I missed (like another tournament happening on the same day), please let me know and I'll try and resolve the situation.

Hope to see you all Sunday!

Note: Sull Girls location test is very likely to take place during these tournaments. We are also working on possibly having a more permanent station for the SG Alpha build in the future. Keep posted for more details.
