Melty Blood Auditorium / Status bar
« on: April 23, 2008, 10:20:58 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked before, so a link would be appreciated. Sorry for my failure at using the search bar.

What do all of the colors represent in the practice mode's status bar? And also, could you explain the differences between red-green and full green?

Red:Uncancellable
Red-Orange:EX cancellable ((Or follow-up move, like Miyako's 236A-6A))
...

Thanks so much~

Akiha's Tea Room / Downloading h.264s from NicoNico?

What program works best? I've tried Greasemonkey and Download Helper, but Greasemonkey gets 403 Forbidden's half of the time, and the other half I get an empty file. Download Manager doesn't even start downloading...

Ciel's Tech Support / Reordering joysticks priority
« on: March 07, 2008, 01:23:23 PM »
I have a two-port PS2 ((always on, even when there aren't controllers in)) converter, and whenever I plug in my other stick, which is USB, the two PS2 controllers take priority.

Besides uninstalling one of the drivers, is there a program I can use to reorder which controllers are first and second?

Akiha's Tea Room / Seimitsu LS-40?
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:00:14 AM »
I heard that they were "less ruggedly built" than other sticks, but is that just referring to the spring, or is it actually easier to break?

Any personal reviews are welcome as well!

Akiha's Tea Room / WoW... -_- :prinny:
« on: February 10, 2008, 07:08:02 PM »
Alright, guys. A really good friend of mine is trying to get me to play WoW. Obviously, I can't. It's impossible for me to just click the mouse a few times and queue up a few skills for hours. ((What aggravates me most is that I can't even Blink out of the way of an attack. -_-)) She doesn't get that Melty Blood's combos-- and even entire matches-- consist of more than button mashing. I've been trying to think of ways to explain to her that I just can't "settle" for a game like WoW, but I can't think of anything that doesn't insult the stupid game, since she thinks so highly of it. >_____<;;

Basically, what I could show her to prove that the game isn't just button mashing? She lives in the US, so it's not like I can just play against her, either.

Thanks for your help.

Gah, I'm going to Training Mode.

Melty Blood Auditorium / Guard meter

o_O Epiphany: Wasn't a guard meter in the original Melty Blood? Then they removed it for Re-ACT... and now it's back?

Melty Blood Auditorium / Steps to anti-scrubbery?
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:29:53 PM »
Alright... I'm ready to give up. A group of about 9 of my friends have been into Melty for nearly two years. The problem is... Only one of them has gotten any good. The one closest behind has only been playing for a week, so I think he's just gifted =P. I can't seem to pinpoint what to work on, so I thought I should come to you guys.

Basically, ((banning any mention of ???? or Profit! or AAAAAAAAA Harman, etc.)) what are the steps to being good?

Some notes/questions:
I've had them practice blocking against Tatari, Ren, and Warc mix-ups/blockstrings, and they can block most to a fair degree. I think it might be that they can't regain initiative, nor keep it, so how should I help them with this?

They also can't combo longer than launcher>j.BC>airthrow, and some can only launcher>airthrow. Are combos important at the lower levels of play? I think that I might have them switch to one of the Shiki's, so they don't have to practice as much. Speaking of which, who IS the most scrub-friendly character?

Should I teach them to Shield/EX Shield?

I'm going as far as to rent out one of my spare computers so they can practice at home ((Mac users... >_>))... but they can't even beat Arcade mode on level 5... >_____< Some of them can't even 623...

If you need visual aids, or if you just want to cry, I have replays...

Thanks for all of your help, guys... "Ciel-sensei" ((<_< My nickname... I hate my friends.)) wants to pull out Seventh Holy on her students right now. -_-

Akiha's Tea Room / To all Touhou/Danmaku fans: A challenge!
« on: December 18, 2007, 07:03:27 PM »
Ahaha~

Just wanted to see how horribly "off" I am from normal humans. I'll post my score sometime... >.<

Post your best scores, too!

If you want to post this somewhere else, could I have some sort of acknowledgment? ^^;; Trying to make a name for myself... or something.

EDIT: Sorry guys, there was an error in the code. New version's up.

Akiha's Tea Room / Sound Rips
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:50:56 PM »
Does anyone know either where and what file type they're stored as, or where I can download pre-ripped soundbites?

"Hey Johnny! Come on!" *picks up phone*

I'd also like to tweak with Windows and change some of the sounds. I used the omake on the MBAC disc for some of the sounds, but changing everything would be epic. ^_____________^

Satsuki Yumizuka (Yumiduka) / What's wrong with this combo?
« on: October 14, 2007, 09:52:27 AM »
I realize that a 2B starter has to start closer to the opponent than a 2C, but it still works off of a j.C.

I included the normal combo in there for reference.

Akiha's Tea Room / Custom stick question
« on: September 24, 2007, 03:32:31 PM »
 :slowpoke:
>_> Alright, sorry for the nubbie questions, but I trudged my way through a few hundred Google pages without avail. Anyways, I was just wondering, how do you know which halves of the PCB are the grounding side, and which are the signal side? I have a multimeter, and I already found the ones that cause a short circuit with each other, but I don't know if that means two signal sides are connected, or two grounded sides... Also, how do I find out which side is the grounding and signal side on the actual button?

I'm using some random PCB I got from a friend. It was already out of the case, so I don't know what brand it is exactly, but it's in perfect condition, and I don't really want to break one of my own controllers...

Thanks so much for your help!

Melty Blood Auditorium / Me vs. Turtle
« on: May 23, 2007, 09:50:59 AM »
Currently, there's only one person at school who can beat me, and the only way he does is by turtling+2BB,Dash to distance you, and spamming Akiha's Flame pit and EX Flame column if you stay too far away. The problem is, he's REALLY good at turtling. He knows every characters' pressure strings and high/low mix-ups and can tell the difference far too often.

I'm using Ciel, and my strategy so far has been to EX Hiero when he tries to EX, but I run out of Circuit. He crouch-blocks more often than standing, but Ciel's high-block-only is a charge, which gives him more than enough time to react, and I can't combo after her Bladesinger unblockable.

I'm perfecting Ciel's 2C2C Mix-up, though I have pulled it off to little avail. I'm also learning to use Ciel's Hiero to Throw, but since he's crouching, it's hard to grab before landing. I don't mind learning a new character, and I was wondering if there was a better unblockable character.

Also, what's the best thing to do if I enter Max Heat mode against him? I use one EX Swordrain, but that gives him more Circuit than the chip damage is worth...

Thanks so much for helping out this noob~
