Melty Blood Auditorium / Character Lock question

Didn't know where else to ask this. Regarding tourney rules, what is the rationale behind character locks? I would understand in 2 v 2, but in singles why is it the standard?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm setting up a tourney in my area. Most of the people over here are used to switching characters mid-tourney (we play the Narutimate Hero series) given that the game has more pronounced character match up advantages. Now I'm all for character lock, but most of the people here question that.

been trying to figure out TK to no avail. any help in the input? i know it's 2367/8/9/ + button but i always end up doing the ground version. any tricks? btw i'm using stick.

Just wanted to know if there are any Melty Blood players in the Phils. I know of one other guy but that's it. Haven't faced anything but the CPU, and there's only so much one can improve with that.

So, if anyone's interested to get together for some sessions, let me know. Thanks.
