Till's dragons aren't too hard, usually you can just move up or down a little bit to dodge them. The problem is when you get sandwiched by two of them. Mem's cake is kind of annoying because they like to appear right where you are, but once you get used to it they're easy to dodge, don't stay on the screen very long, and have small hit boxes. However, when Mem gets a charge shot she shoots out 4 instead of 3 specials.

With T&L, M&P and Mev, you can charge your shot and let go on the border of the screen for instant specials. Nonja Monja's specials are good, but not really deadly. They're the best when you're trying to get the upper hand in pacing because they block all shots so you can't shoot what's behind them.

T&L = twin faeries
M&P = two bounty hunting girls who have a stuffed teddy bear, ride a giant pencil and shoot chompers
RT = girl with green highlight bangs and rides (and shoots) spherical dragons
Kim = Cat sage who rides a mechoneco and shoots little cat treats. His specials are cat-missles.
Yan = Girl with pigtails who rides a pigusus. Her specials are actually pretty good because they're kind of unpredictable, but her mov. speed is horrible and her charge shot is horrible.

When I first started playing I mained Arthur, but then I had problems controlling how far I move because he has the fastest mov. speed in the game, I'd always overdodge something and hit something else. So I switched to Nonja Monja because of its specials. NM moves kind of slow, but still fast enough to dodge everything. Mevious is faster and is my secondary when I feel like being more offensive.

If you want to bring in the Neo Geo board that would be awesome, Kemi! We can swap out the Puzzle Bobble cabinet like last time.

127
Tinker & Linker >> everyone else.

Memory's charge shot on the outside seems good, but in reality you have no control over what you shoot. Mevious's charge shot isn't very good, and his special bats don't stay on the screen very long at all. I made a tier list in a different thread of a different board, let me go find it...

Quote
If I had to make my own Cali Tier list for TSS, it would probably be:
S Tier: Tinker & Linker
A Tier: Mackey & Pentell, Nonja Monja, Mevious
B Tier: Sprites, Memory, Griffon, Really Till
C Tier: Arthur Schmitt, Load/Dark Ran, Kim
D Tier: Yan Yanyan

That would be in order (So M&P > NM > Mev, etc.).

The only things you really need to consider are a character's charge shot, their movement speed, and their special attacks. Virtually everything else pales in comparison to those three things.

T&L has probably the best charge in the game, pretty good movement speed, and one of the best specials in the game. M&P and NM are pretty good at everything but movement speed, and Mev has good movement speed, but a poor charge (and decent offensive specials).

P.S. I've never played a non-arcade version of TSS, but I think Marin was on the Sega Saturn version of the game. They probably carried her over to the other versions, but idk. I play on MAME and Neo Geo. The Neo Geo version has lag and lag effects, while the MAME version doesn't. So if we were to get super pro tournament style we'd have to play on the Neo Geo board only in order to get true arcade perfection. But we're not going to, the MAME version is fine.

P.P.S. "Meirin" is Saturn only. Just double checked.

128
Only the panda character (Marin I think her name was).

The Boss characters are playable in the arcade through a code and are tournament legal.

129
After a taste of getting First Place in TSS I'm not going to give it up easily. Bring it on!

I'll show you that cute little puffy furballs are better than two little cutesy faeries any day! That's how hardcore TSS is!

130
efz and arcana but no iamp, yeah ok lol

there's more iamp players in cali than efz/arcana in the us

too bad none of them travel durr

If you want to run an IaMP side tournament, too you can. There were just a couple factors I was considering when I didn't add IaMP. The new one just came out, I asked people around at the arcade during the tournament, and more players play EFZ than IaMP.

But if there'll be a crowd for IaMP then yeah, let's put that in, too. We've got room for another game on Sat.

131
TSS is the real game for the tournament, everything else is just to draw more people in for TSS ^_^

132
Fix TSS so you dont lose 3 hearts when getting hit once  :psyduck:
Getting hit twice and dying is  :emo:

Just get your opponent hit to get your hearts back ^_^

It does kind of suck when you're hiding in the corner when that one specific group comes up right there, and knocks you twice right into an opponent's mob.

There's some good TSS comp growing. I had a couple 140+ sec matches. I'll have to start practicing again  :slowpoke:

133
Times for games coming soon.

Airdashers Anonymous:
A fighting game tournament designed to help cure your addiction. You can only recieve help once you admit that you have a problem.

Hi, my name is Id_asz, and I play airdasher fighting games.

Seriously, though, this is going to be a big tournament. It will be held at FFA (Family Fun Arcade) where we've been doing bi-weeklies for BB, GG and MB for quite some time. The date Dec 19&20th is on a weekend right after Finals (for most colleges) and during Winter Break, so it's the perfect time for us to hold a huge tournament!

Here's the setting:
We'll have 8 fighting games, and 3 Teams over the course of 2 days.

Location:
Family Fun Arcade
10363 Balboa Blvd.
Granada Hills, CA
(818) 360-0419

December 19th & 20th (Sat & Sun)

Day 1:
BlazBlue 3v3 Teams ($3 per entrant, [so $9 per team])
Guilty Gear XX Λ Core 2v2 Teams ($1 per entrant)
Melty Blood Actress Again 2v2 Teams ($1 per entrant)
Eternal Fighter ZERO ($1 to enter)
Fate/Unlimited Codes ($1 to enter)
Twinkle Star Sprites ($1 to enter)

Day 2:
1 match between players; Double Elim bracket.
BlazBlue Singles ($5 to enter)
Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Singles ($3 to enter)
Melty Blood Actress Again Singles ($3 to enter)
Hokuto no Ken ($1 to enter)
Arcana Heart FULL! ($1 to enter)

The times for each game isn't decided yet, but they'll be figured out soon. I'll update this post when we do.

We'll also be holding exhibitions and casuals for each game for those of you who don't know how to play some of these and are interested. I'll personally be teaching players how to play TSS . The most important thing to remember is to bring your own stick! The only games you can count on not having to use your stick will probably be GG and TSS, everything else will need your stick! Games will be on PS2, PS3 and PC so keep that in mind. I only have one stick to lend out, and I'll need it for myself when I play, so try not to count on other people.

Let me go over the rules and info:

BlazBlue: [Possibly Continuum Shift]
BB 3v3 Teams (Day 1): $3 per person
BB Singles (Day 2): $5 per person

Singles:
2/3 matches, Double Elim.
Character changing allowed on loss
There will be a second station on a PS3, that station will be set to arcade style (So no AH's or Bang Install music!)
Infinites are allowed, but not game-breaking glitches (I'm looking at you Rachel!)

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament.
No same characters on the same team (So no Nu/Nu/Arakune).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Guilty Gear XX Λ Core:
GG 2v2 Teams (Day 1): $1 per person
GG Singles (Day 2): $3 per person

Singles:
2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss.
This will take place on the arcade machine within the arcade.
The machine has PS2 ports for those of you who want to play using PS2 controllers (Setup is: □ = Punch; X = Kick; △ = Slash; O = HSlash; R1 = Dust)

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament.
No same characters on the same team (So no Baiken/Baiken).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Melty Blood: Actress Again:
MB 2v2 Teams (Day 1): $1 per person
MB Singles (Day 2): $3 per person

Singles:
2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss; however, you can change moon styles at any time.
This will be on a PS2
Original Mode, Console exclusive characters (Besides Archtype: Earth) are allowed.

Teams:
Pokemon Style (Winner stays, next opponent from that team comes up)
Double Blind selection available on request (and highly encouraged).
You must stick to one character through the whole Team tournament (But you can change moon styles).
No same characters on the same team (even moon styles) (So no C-Ciel/H-Ciel).

Teams Time: ?:??
Singles Time: ?:??

Hokuto no Ken [aka Fist of the North Star]:
HnK Singles (Day 2): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This might take place on arcade, but don't count on it. It will most likely be on PS2.
Infinites are allowed, but game-breaking glitches are not.

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Arcana Heart FULL:
AH Singles (Day 2): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PS2.
This is AH1, not AH2. AH2's PS2 port is horribly laggy and woefully different from the arcade version.

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Eternal Fighter ZERO:
EFZ Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PC
Version 4.0.2

Time: ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament.

Fate/Unlimited Codes:
F/UC Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on PS2
Console exclusive characters are allowed.
Glitches/infinites are allowed, just not game-breaking glitches.

Time ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament. I think Soniti volunteered to show people how to play.

Twinkle Star Sprites:
TSS Singles (Day 1): $1 per person

2/3 Matches; Double Elim
Character changing allowed on loss
This will be on the arcade machine, so now console exclusive character (Marin, I think her name is).
Boss characters are allowed (Dark Ran, Sprites, Mevious and Memory).

Time ?:??
Casuals and exhibitions will take place before and after the tournament. I'll be glad to show people how to play this.

-----------------------------------------------------

I have no idea how many people will enter X game. So as a general guide, here's how some things will be played out.

If there are 5 or less people, the tournament will be run Round Robin style.
Pot Split will be (not set in stone):
5 or less people: Winner take all
6-9 people: 75/25%
10-40 people: 70/20/10%
41+ people: 65/20/10/5%

I don't play all these game (I play most of them, though), so if I missed anything in the rules (probably in F/UC and HnK) please let me know so i can correct it.

Howdy! Sorry about the lack of attention I've been giving you guys recently. Been very busy with school and all sorts of stuff. But you don't want to hear my problems, here's the schedule for 11/8:

MB & GG: 1PM
BB & TSS: 5PM

I'll fix the first post to reflect the new tournament in a bit.

There is also a big tournament coming up on December 19th and 20th, I'll post the details of that very soon.

136
Yes this Sunday. Sorry I haven't replied. Crazy crazy busy with school. I'll be much more active next week. No more broken sentences.

137
I'll post results soon, been very busy. For BB results so far, check it our here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7111&page=42

138
I'll be there this Sunday (10/11).  Guest appearance by Kijea.  :V

Hype!

139
Whoever brings in brownies, I'll pay for your entrance fee... Brownies are good.  :toot: (No pot brownies, though, they don't taste very good).

And Xie is a crazy good Mech player, I can't touch him (even if he is using Meko&Neko).

I fixed the first post for the next tourney. It'll be same time/price as the last one (for MBAA), but if you're coming for GG or BB, some of that stuff has changed, so check it out.

I might need someone to help run the MBAA tournament (maybe Soniti) if I run the BB Teams at the same time. We'll see how it goes, I usually get plenty of volunteers when I do something like that, so I'm not worried.

Congrats to everyone who entered the tournament. Especially Render for breaking Mike Z.'s (What was it, 5?) tournament win streak. Will Seung ever come back from where he left to?

It was nice seeing 3 Carl's up there, thanks ZONG for repping Carl.

Crazy good matches all around, especially the Bang Bang Mirror (BangC and SDCT), Soniti vs BGarbage, Tron vs Mike Z., AGnat vs Mike Z., and Render vs Diar.

Thanks to the two ladies who entered the tournament, Mel and RSheller. I hope to see you again next tournament.

Had a surplus of Jin players this time, 4. Usually we only have 2.

I had some fun casuals after the tournament, too. GGs Ike Takeda and Bang Camaro.

The next tourney will happen 10/11. IDK if it will have teams or not, I've been asked that a few times already. Hope to see you all then!

Guilty Gear (AKA Pay for Mike Z.'s BB entry fee):
1st Place: Mike Z. [Potemkin] (Didn't lose one match)
2nd: Diar [Baiken] (Lost to Mike Z. 0/2; lost to Mike Z. 0/2)

8th: Id [Jam] (Lost to Diar 0/2; lost to Batsu 0/2)
12th: Raptor [Chipp/May/Ky] (Lost to Batsu 0/2; lost to AGnat 0/2)
12th: Jason D. [Axl] (Lost to Diar 0/2; lost to Siaga 0/2)

15th: SDCT [Baiken] (Lost to Id 0/2; lost to Jason D 0/2)
15th: Oni [Chipp/Ky] (Lost to Siaga 0/2; lost to Soniti 0/2)
15th: Mel [Anji] (Lost to AGnat 0/2; lost to Tron 0/2)

GGs everybody. Especially the three guys who came together (Diar, Siaga and Batsu). We had a really good turnout for GG, 15 people.

We were supposed to use this tournament to find out who had gotten better AGnat, but we both tied for the same place >.< I'll beat you next time, muahaha (strokes evil kitty). I wasn't expecting to get nearly as far as I did, and it ended up holding the wait for the BB tournament to start, lol.

Oh yeah, big thanks to AGnat for running the tournament, he did a really good job.

GGs Soniti, that was a really close match. I learned a few things when I played you on Friday, and when I watched you play Jam during the tournament. Without those I probably would have lost.

We had some exceptional players today, really fierce competition. I hope to see you guys again next tournament. And maybe some new entrants (It's only $1!).

Melty Blood:
1st: Xie [F/C Neko & Mech] (8 points)
2nd: Diar [H-Aoko] (6 points)
3rd: Id [C-Ciel] (4 points)
4th: Raptor [F-Sion] (2 points)
5th: Oni [H-Roa/C-Ciel/H-Ryougi] (0 points)

We ended up round robining because of the lack of entrants. I'll probably make it a $1 tournament next time to entice more people into entering.

I did practice over the last 2 weeks, I swear! Just, not with my main >.<. I'm trying to get used to the PS2 controller (I'm not going to use this as an excuse for losing, but let me say it) and I kept rolling my inputs instead of going to 5 first before switching directions. That kept messing up my combos (and made for some very unopportunistic supers), so I usually ended them quickly with a throw just so I couldn't fuck anything else up. I'll practice more and do better next tournament. GGs everyone, especially Xie.

Better luck next time, Oni. We should get together and practice some. H-Roa seems like he has a lot of potential, and that EX Haloish super of his could be really useful.

Congrats on the win, Xie. Good to see somebody using Neco & Mech, lol. IDK if they'll end up being as good as your regular C-Mech (which is crazy good), but they seem to have some decent potential.

If any of you guys didn't enter all three tournaments, practice for the ones you didn't enter in! MB is a really fun game (don't be intimidated by the higher up players, I sucked up and entered GG and actually did pretty well). It just takes some practice, but all-in-all it's probably the simplest of the three fighters. It focuses more on footsies and game theory. BB and GG rely more on heavy skill of game mechanics (esp. BB).

141
I always bring my PS2 stick with me to lend. For MB I play pad, but I figure other people would want to use my stick.

142
Since MBAA came out I've been working on some more characters. I've picked up F-Ciel, F-Satsuki, C-Arcueid, C-Riesbyfe so far. I'm going to start practicing my comboes and game theory for each character. I was dropping way too many combos during the tournament >.< I'll try and fix that up for the next one.

GGs everyone on Sunday!

Good Sport Award: Render

28 entrants, wow! Great matches to everyone I played. I know things got kind of hectic running two stations at once, but I think it turned out pretty well. I wasn't able to get a match count to let you know how well people won this time because I had to watch two stations at once.

Congrats on getting 3rd place Blue G., I always knew you'd do well if you entered.

Grats Mike Z. It felt like you were the underdog this tournament even though you always win. There's just something so right watching a Tager beat a crazy good Nu player.

For the first time in like 5 months we have another Carl player other than me! Sonic took out a bunch of players in the casuals, but lost early in the tournament. The two players he fought against were very used to fighting Carl in casuals, so that's probably what did him in. I hope to see you next tournament Sonic, you're a really good Carl player.

Holy cow Shin, when did you get so good with Haku-Men? I used to beat you all the time! Congrats on 6th place.

Tronzilla, that was a sick match between us. We must have timed out 3 times. For those of you who missed it, Tron and I were 1/1 on rounds and the time went out. We both had what looked like exactly the same amount of health, and we both held our breaths. Then I did my win pose >.<... Madness!

A whole lot of new faces today. Hopefully you guys stop by more during the week for casuals.

Melty Blood:
1st: Xie [C-Mech Hisui]
2nd: H-F Blade [c-Ciel/F-Ryougi/H-Riesbyfe] (lost to Xie in Winner's finals 1/2, beat Xie Set 1 2/1, lost Set 2 1/2]
3rd: Numakie [C-Hisui] (lost to H-F Blade 0/2; lost to H-F Blade 0/2)
4th: Id [C-Ciel] (lost to Soniti 0/2; lost to Numekie 0/2)
6th: Wicked Element [C-Miyako] (lost to Xie 0/2; lost to Id 0/2)
6th: Soniti [C-Akiha] (lost to H-F Blade 0/2; lost to Numekie 0/2)
8th: Ketuekigumi [C-Kouma] (lost to H-F Blade 0/2; lost to Id 1/2)
8th: Severin [H-Riesbyfe] (lost to Wicked E. 1/2; lost to Numekie 0/2)
12th: Oni [H-Roa/F-Ciel] (lost to DAN 1/2; lost to Ketue 0/2)
12th: Shin ATProof [C-Warachia/C-Aoko] (lost to Wicked E. 1/2; lost to Id 0/2)
12th: Tronzilla666 [C-Ryougi/C-Ciel] (lost to Id 0/2; lost to Severin 1/2)
12th: DAN [C-Red Arcuied/C-Kouma] (lost to Xie 0/2; lost to Numekie 0/2)

Great matches to everyone! Thanks H-F Blade for showing me some awesome Ciel combos, I'll have to practice them for the next tournament. AGnat, hopefully you can enter the next tournament, you're supposed to show us your awesome Neco-Arc Chaos skills!

DAN, I think you just got bad luck going against Xie then Numakie, in actuality you're probably better than I am (though I will admit I'm a bit rusty). Good luck in the next tournament.

Sorry for the lack of seeding during this tournament, next time that won't happen. I just seeded Xie because he was winning casuals against everybody and randomized everyone else. Next time Numakie and H-F Blade won't fight each other first match >.<

I wasn't expecting this big of a turn-out, to be honest. But the tournament was a blast, I had a lot of fun. I hope to see you guys again in two weeks. I'm really hoping that some of the BlazBlue guys start playing Melty Blood. I've already converted a few to the dark side  :V

Guilty Gear:
1st: Shin ATProof [Baiken]
2nd: Soniti [Testament/Jam/May] (lost to Shin 0/2; lost to Shin 1/2)
3rd: Almighty Gnat [Zappa/Robo-Ky] (lost to Shin 1/2; lost to Soniti 1/2)
4th: Tron [Faust] (lost to DAN 1/2; lost to Soniti 0/2)
6th: DAN [Johnny] (lost to Shin 0/2; lost to Soniti 1/2)
6th: Severin [Potemkin] (lost to AGnat 0/2; lost to Tron 0/2)
8th: Ketuekigami [Ky] (lost to AGnat 1/2; lost to Soniti 0/2)
8th: Id [Jam] (lost to Shin 0/2; lost to Tron 0/2)
9th: Oni [Chipp/Ky] (lost to Severin 1/2; lost to Soniti 1/2)

I suck at GG >.< You totally didn't deserve 9th place, Oni, but I guess the random.org gods smote you. I'll be practicing my Jam a bit for next tournament, I'm not horrible, but I'm not half as good as I am in BB or MB.

so uhh.. who's joinin the melty tournie...?  I'd hate to win by default.
I will be too. Plus a bunch of casual players at FFA (who don't post here >.<). Namely I'm expecting, Soniti, Rex, Kro and Shin ATproof. I don't expect the turn-out to be more than the BB tournament, but it shouldn't be disappointing competition.

The first post has been updated with the new info for the next tournament.

If there's something wrong with the rules let me know so I can change them  :prinny:

Yeah, if that's considered the standard, then we'll run it with console characters on original mode.

Like I said, I didn't even consider researching it because I thought it would be obvious that console characters would be banned. I was wrong and got flak for it >.<

The biggest reason why I'm doing MBAA bi-weeklies is to get more people into the game. I've been one of the top MBAC players at the arcade, but too few people were interested in the game. Now that MBAA is out on console I wanted to bump publicity for it so we can get more competition.

SBO had the no same character rule for I'm guessing publicity, and people copied it for some reason.  From a competitive standpoint the rule makes no sense.

The reason I think people do the whole no same character rule is to prevent everybody from using the top teir character. Or to allow for more balanced match-ups. 3v3 of Nero/Nero/Nero vs Ciel/Ciel/Ciel would be interesting. But when you have a more balanced team you can strategically choose who you want next. When I run them the first player is chosen double blindly and the other players get to choose who goes up next time.

But for games with multiple characters per player (like MvC2 or KoF), I've never seen the no same character rule implemented for teams.

Hey, sorry I haven't replied to any of you. Been crazy busy over the last week.

Yeah I am new to the MBAA scene (but I'm not new to the MBAC scene). I wasn't aware that the new version of MBAA will have the console characters and rebalancing fixes. Typically for most fighting games when new characters are added for console only those characters are banned, not because they're unbalanced, but just because they're not on arcade. For example, Guilty Gear tournaments have (typically) never allowed any EX characters to be playable in tournaments even though they are balanced.

BlazBlue is seeing this problem as well. There's new moves that are not allowed in tournaments because they aren't in the arcade mode yet. There's an option to play arcade style in the console version so that is always set.

For just about every fighting game I've seen, console exclusive characters have been banned (If there's an arcade version of the game to go along with it). KoFXI, SS6, SFa3G, GGXX, features in MvC2, the list goes on. SBO won't even allow anything console (because they run everything on arcade). But, things have been changing recently, SF4 console exclusive characters are allowed in EVO, and KoFXII console characters are allowed in tournaments too.

If most tournaments are allowing the new characters and team-ups, and the new version of MBAA will have this stuff, I see no reason to ban those characters, or stick to arcade style on console. If the above is true in your posts (which I'll assume it is) then I'll allow the other characters from console.

I'm not the badguy =P, I love Melty Blood (but I honestly won't be getting MBAA until tomorrow), I had just figured the rules for MBAA would have been the same for every other fighting game down the line so I didn't bother with research on it. I'm always open to criticism, so feel free to let me have it.

I've never seen a teams tournament where you could play the same character in the team. Certainly they exist, but SBO has been forcing different characters in teams for as long as I know of.

I disagree with you with the order of round, match, set, game, but it's not a matter of opinion, so me disagreeing isn't proof enough. I'll look into Tennis rules when I get the chance, I don't have time atm.

The format that I labeled "Swiss Bracket" is a viable format I've seen used in tournaments. Somebody told me it was called a "Swiss Bracket" and I didn't question the name. Sorry for the mix-up in semantics.

Maybe there is a big difference between how tournaments are run on the WC vs the EC? I've had everybody typically agreeing with me on the formats I've been using for tournaments, so I haven't had a problem with it. I was taught by someone else who ran tournaments, and just by playing in tournaments within the community.

I swear, no copy/pasting rules. It took me over half an hour to write that post =P.

Sometimes if you're running a really large tournament (like over 64 people) you might want to run a Swiss Bracket (which is what EVO does).

Swiss Bracket:
This combines Round Robin and Double Elimination. Everyone is put into pools; each pool is its own Round Robin. When considering seeding, put the best seeds in different pools so that they won't have to play each other. The top two winners of the pools go into a Double Elim bracket. Depending on how many people you have, you may want the bracket to be 16 or 32 people large. If you want 16 people, you'll need 8 pools, and for 32 people you'll need 16 pools. When setting up your Double Elim bracket after the pools are set, for the very first round in the bracket, set the top two people from each pool next to each other. Then the 1st place winner of that pool goes on to the winner's side of the bracket while the 2nd place winner of the pool goes into the loser's side of the bracket. This way, the Round Robin pools ARE the first round of the Double Elim bracket. Everything else goes on as per normal for the Double Elim bracket.

Swiss Brackets can get a little hectic, so I recommend having someone who knows how to run a round robin in each pool record the data for their own pool. If a pool doesn't have someone familiar with Round Robins, teach somebody.

Another often confusing tournament condition are Teams. Teams can be 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, 21v21 or any other variation that you feel like running.

General Teams Rules:
For most official Teams tournaments these basic rules apply. Each team can only have one of the same character. So you can't have two Ciel's in the same team. Because of this you also cannot switch characters mid-tournament, the character you choose is deadlocked. There is no consensus on whether or not you have to keep the same order throughout the tournament, but if you want that rule, be sure to state so before the tournament starts.

There are two main formats for Team tournaments:
Waseda Format (can be known by other names):
This is what they use for SBO 2v2s and are typically only done for 2v2s. However, it can be applicable towards more players. Waseda Format has a designated player fight another player. The winner is recorded and the other members of both teams then fight each other. If one team won both matches, then that team is declared the winner. If both teams one once and lost once, then the two winners fight each other. The winning team of that match is then the winner.

EX. 1:
Team A1 vs Team B1 = A1 wins
Team A2 vs Team B2 = A2 wins
Team A wins

EX. 2:
Team A1 vs Team B1 = B1 wins
Team A2 vs Team B2 = A2 wins
Team A2 vs Team B1 = B1 wins
Team B wins

The other format of team matches is the Pokemon Format.
Pokemon Format:
Each team has players ready to play, the first members of each team fight each other. The winner stays on the machine while the losing team brings in their next player. This format is more popular for 3v3s or more.

EX:
Team A1 vs Team B1 = B1 Wins
Team A2 vs Team B1 = B1 wins
Team A3 vs Team B1 = A3 wins
Team A3 vs Team B2 = B2 wins
Team B wins

One more thing I'd like to add to this section:

Terminology:
Often players and even event organizers get lost in the tournament terminology. Please feel free to add more if you wish, I'm just going to list a few and this list isn't complete.

Round: The smallest increment of a win. Usually arcade machines are set to 2 rounds per win, but they can go as high as 5/9 rounds.
Match: One match is one actual win on the machine. This is what you would need to win in casuals for your opponent to leave and the next person to come up. Most tournaments have 2/3 matches, and 3/5 matches for the finals.
Set: A set is determined by winning the required number of matches. Usually 1 Set Point means that the person won their part of the tournament until the next opponent. But in Double Elimination Brackets, there are times in Grand Finals where someone must win 2/3 Sets.
Game: This is the highest practical increment of winning in tournaments. When someone wins the required amount of Sets, they win the Game. The only real point higher would be a Trophy point, which would mean winning the whole tournament.

If you're familiar to Tennis rules, these should come naturally to you.

EX:
2/3 Rounds per Match
2/3 Matches per Set
1 Set per Game

or

2/3 Rounds per Match
3/5 Matches per Set
2/3 Sets per Game
