Yuzuriha wallpaper this time. Also a reminder that they're in the March 30th Arcadia and a note that they'll be doing something on April 1st.

52
I think I saw Vatista charge herself with lightning at around the 40:30  mark. Thanks to the quality though, I'm not entirely certain about that though.

Thanks for the conversion to .flv, caiooa.

Edit: Scratch that. Looks like the screen just flashed when Vatista briefly went into Concentration. Why oh why can't they just use streaming equimpent instead of webcams...?

Seth's fireball is scary looking. It seems to leave behind a small explosion when blocked for a free pressure reset and can be angled forward, downward, and upward depending on your zoning needs. Also looks like his 3-way fake out has the fun fourth option of him not being any of the shadows and ending up where he originally was.

Yuzuriha's attacks look annoyingly fast, but I'm with Loli in that she has less range than expected. Part of me still expects to see people playing keep-away with her though.

Seth wallpaper this time. Also a note saying that they'll be appearing in the next Arcadia on March 30th.

Bringing up some old news: They'll be hosting another UStream on the 23rd at 11PM JST.

The link on their website seems to be redirecting some people to the webpage, so follow this link to the UStream instead.

I'm guessing that we'll be back to infoless update normalcy until the next loketest.
When is the next loketest?

They have yet to say, but it's probably safe to bet within a couple weeks. I somehow doubt that they want to use up the rest of their character wallpaper filler and possible final character reveal in one shot.

Happy Birthday, Linne!

Site update for Vatista's wallpaper and Q&A. I'm guessing that we'll be back to infoless update normalcy until the next loketest.

Going on that note about Hyde being able to detonate his fireballs, you can see it pretty clearly here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTbdIBvbXAI&t=1m30s

That match has already been posted, mind, but I felt this was worth pointing out

I have to wonder if the animation where he goes through an animation to make the fireball explode is releasing BE236A, 236B, or both. Also looks like he can activate the explosion even when the fireball is going through its auto-explosion from touching the opponent.

59
They now have character demonstration videos for Carmine, Gordeau, and Orie.

60
In that case here's what I think happens:

The initial 236 sends the projectile forward, the second input either pops it or holds it in place until you release and then pops it.

If I'm reading this correctly, then holding the second 236A would stop the fireball's forward momentum until you release it? That'd be pretty nice for oki purposes if that's true.

61
5D is Concentration, ala GRD Charge.

If I have any complaints about UNIB so far, it's that it doesn't seem to want to make sense at times.

62
Now there's an offical video page along with Seth and Yuzuriha screenshots. The loketest last week reportedly went well, but we don't have any videos to go along with it.  :gonk:

Heh, looks like when Waldstein gets the momentum, he keeps the momentum. There're resets into the anti-air c-grab and abusing the timestop from Chain Shift to use it as a straight AA in neutral.

63
There's a lot of offensive oriented mechanics available to the players, but yeah, if defense is that strong it leads to boring and stagnant gameplay.  Here's hoping that they tone down shields a little, even just lower/remove the GRD gain would make it more risk vs less reward.  It's punishable, right?

If it is, they aren't doing it. It does however look like unsuccessful shield attempts will freeze your GRD gauge and holding it costs meter (not a lot, but some). I guess we really will have to wait and see how everything pans out as people figure out the game more.

64
Someone's impressions of the AOU build. Not a lot we don't know already, but they seem to say that defense seems strong in the game thanks to how powerful Shielding is. On the other hand, they also mention that they didn't have enough time to fully explore whether offense in general is strong enough to balance that or not.

Me, I like offense oriented games, so I wouldn't mind if they toned down Shielding if it really is strong like the guy says.

65
It also automatically corners from anywhere on the screen. On the plus side, it looks pretty terrible on whiff; he continues until he hits the edge of the screen regardless.

He also has Gadget Finger Headbutt oki. Considering that this game seems to have hard knockdowns, I wonder if it gives him even better frame advantage then.

Doesn't seem like you can jump cancel air attacks. They really don't want air combos in this game.

66
They're from last week, but I don't recall seeing them posted anywhere:
Orie vs Hyde
Linne vs Waldstein
Hyde vs Linne

67
Yuzuriha and Seth Twitter avas this time. I'm taking it that it's a bad thing that I consider this as a returning to normal after the actual match footage.

68
Impressions of the AOU build. I don't think there's anything new here, but just in case.

What I got (via Google Translate) from it:
-Veil Off requires that you have at least 100 EXS to start.
-Throws are A+B instead of A+D. No shield/tech OS like in MB.
-Seems like you need a CH to OTG someone... or something. They say that Orie and Gordeau in particular want to fish for CHs. Uncertain about this; I'd appreciate it if someone else could translate.
-Feedback is largely positive.
-Something about "Fukitobi Return" and "Passive Slam". I'm not quite certain what those are.

69
The next loktest will reportedly be held on February 25th and 26th.

I'll admit, that's sooner than I was expecting. Unfortunately, it doesn't say if it'll be a different build from what was shown at AOU.

Huh, if it really is GRD Vorpal giving the offense/defense boost and not just a static bonus from GRD in general, then GRD seems less crazy. It's more worrying about having more than the opponent rather than worrying about every point.

Gordeau and his GRD stealing c-grab is just that more terrifying if that's true. It seems like it'd be really hard to take momentum from him if gets Vorpal.

Funny that this is a paraphrase of what I just said lol. Great minds think alike.

Yeah, I really should've read what you said more closely. Sorry about that.

I can't really tell how much Vorpal has an effect right now, but it doesn't seem like very much. Orie having Vorpal rather than her opponent meant that the same combo do 2k instead of 1.9k. Oops, looks like it's more in the order of a 400 damage drop, from 2.4k to 2k, in between Orie having Vorpal and Linne having Vorpal. That's a bit more than I originally thought.

(What I'm assuming to be) A attacks also seem to prorate more strongly than in MB. One 2As lead into 2.4k per combo with Orie, two 2As lead into 2k, whereas 3+ dropped her damage to ~1.5k.

Three more videos. Ok, technically 1 match video and 2 videos of someone recording the standard demo play that occurs when noone is using the machine. We can still get info off of them.

Orie vs Waldstein and Orie vs Hyde
Nobody Touching The Machine 1
Nobody Touching The Machine 2

I may have to rethink my assumption that 2As prorate more strongly than in MB. It may just be that GRD does just give a static bonus to offense/defense (like it was originally translated) and that's messing with the damage rather than the 2As.

72
Sahgren, are you sure about Gordeau's command grab giving him the drained GRD?  I was paying attention for that specifically, and I didn't see it.  The GRD loss happens when shoves his hand in, but he didn't get any GRD at that point, or at any time later in the move.

Yeah, it's when he yanks his hand out. It's best seen in the Gordeau vs Waldstein video; the only problem is that the guy is spending a lot of time under the penalty that keeps him from gaining GRD, so it isn't happening at those portions.

Happens twice in a row here, at the end of round 3.

73
It's looking like there isn't any special mechanic for encroaching on the opponent's half of the GRD bar. It's just that if a unit is empty, then either side is free to take it.

Gordeau's c-grab also seems to give him the GRD that it drains from the opponent.

Wald's damage seems low even on the supers, at least compared to the grapplers of other games. His Veil Off > Grab Super did 4.4k damage, which looked really high until I saw that Orie combo'd into her 200 meter super to add 5k.

74
Looks like Hyde has Hadouken,  Tohno/Nanya's DP, F-VAkiha's 236X, and what I'm tempted to call Ragna's DeadSpike.

Seeing as how he can combo into it, I'm guessing Gordeau has a c-grab.
