Kohaku's Video Room / Kore Wa Melty U2B - Reuploading Nicovideo stuff
« on: March 27, 2013, 06:57:46 AM »
Hey guys.
So we ran out of stuff to do on youtube with MeltyDB (except for the korean channels) so I've been reuploading stuff from Nico onto http://www.youtube.com/korewamelty so we can eventually transcribe 'em and throw those in the DB. Occasionally (pretty fucking rarely) we upload stuff we haven't straight up borrowed from Nicovideo and it's very special when that occurs.
The plan is to fill the gap between now and when the MeltyBread channel went dead.

Check it out, tell your friends, follow me on twitter, like me on facebook, subscribe to my twitch.
don't actually do those things though, except tell your friends

Hey folks, we've hit a bit of a snag with further progress on the DB.
Youtube has identified the ECOLE logo at the beginning of the Melty boot up screen to be a SEGA logo or something meaning they've restricted our account to sub15 minute videos. I've disputed it but it seems like they're not going to respond to it any time soon. Meaning I'd have to break videos down into 15 minute blocks when uploading from Nicovideo which I think is pretty inconvenient. Just an update of what's going on. In the meantime we'll continually update the channels we have in there already.\

Thanks,
Pete.

You've got this one marked as JeffreyManson vs JeffreyManson.
Heh, sorry about that. Fixed it.

Mini update, we about 310 v1.07 matches from Bevarezi, Kamishiro (ながる かみしろ), yagarc, and yuzupeko. We're running out of channels to transcribe existing videos so we'll have to see where we go next.

Thanks.

Hey folks, Kirisugu0053 matches have been completed and uploaded to the site. With the 1300+ matches added we now have over 6,500 matches logged in the DB and I don't think we're stopping there (hopefully).

Enjoy.

Thanks to Ac-Town, we've moved servers to something a little more dedicated, as a result you can now link specific pages and even favourite them!
Example: http://meltydb.com/resultall.php?1c=seifuku&1m=Half&cl=1&mb=1&ga=1&z3=1

Enjoy.

64
Even though the stream is dead, RIP, can we get a link to the brackets?

Hey MB, we're slowly workin' on adding Kiritsugu matches to the DB.
In the meantime I've gone ahead and published a little page on global winrates throughout the 4 channels we have in the DB (clearlamp, gameacho, meltybread, and zero3japan).

The numbers right now are a little on the rough side because of a couple of factors but at least it's something to look at, plus I don't think they'll change too much once some changes are made.

NetPlay Community / Re: WGRCaster 1.50 English
« on: February 13, 2013, 11:22:21 AM »
The spectator mode actually broadcasts a video stream, which will affect your bandwidth and the game performance. I don't like how this program's luring everyone to register that Korean website (and you have to wait for an approval) for exaggerated functions.

Whether u use this program or not, it is up to ur choice. There r people who can't use it even if they want to. In fact, I made this for Korean people. If u don't like it, than delete this post.
We appreciate the effort you have put into your program without a doubt. Though I do agree some of the structuring you've done seems a bit shady, and this program is just another streaming alternative.
I was under the impression this was a way to allow people to spectate a game via a caster like MBCaster where you watched a VS game within the game itself and not a stream.

67
Really liked the last broadcast even with the video lag going on sometimes.
keep up the good stuff, cant wait for next week.

If I'm understanding this correctly, this means we have a way for people to spectate matches in game like in MBAC?

For competitive Japanese play on youtube, any of the videos on these channels is good.

ZeroJapan
Clearlamp
GAMEacho
Kirisugu
MeltyBread
NagaruKamishiro

Teir List is pretty subjective. Chances are, if you pick a char, it's going to be tourney viable (B or A tier at least).
Off the top of my head what I would consider above average is:
Nero, VAkiha, Arc, Kohaku, and maybe Akiha.
This games balance is pretty godlike.

There are some real good Melty Blood basics videos that I will have to find links for later. But I'd be surprised if someone else doesn't link them before I do.
If you want to look up videos from some of these sites you can use www.meltydb.com, the site will give you VODs based on who you're lookin for.
Shameless self plug.

I hope people are getting use out of the DB, we're currently working on the kiritisugu0053 channel which has a lot more content than I thought initially.
If you're interested in working on a UNIB sister site, please PM me or if you want to do better just add me on steam http://steamcommunity.com/id/goddamnpete/
I want to stress that there is no pressure when working on something like this, it's mostly a leisurely hobby that you complete at your own pace.

Gonna head down this Friday for another Melty Round Robin and recording.

Same thing. I'll arrive @ 8p'ish and start around 9p.

Round Robin Rules.
- No entry fee
- Played on the Melty Cab.
- Character lock preferred, but not required.
- Moon switching OK.
- 1 Match
- Everyone plays everyone
- Each game is 50 cents. No Exceptions.
     * Both players offer 1 quarter for the cab,  OR
     * 1 player pays the 50 cents if they're feeling generous, OR
     * Others can donate. Either way, the cab requires 50 cents.
     * If you pick the wrong character/moon & need to change... another 50 cents in the cab.

This will be streamed on my Twitch account & the bracket will be posted on Challonge. If you guys have any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask.

I'll see you guys then.
It'd be cool to see a Red Team White Team kinda thing happen. Anything like that goin on potentially?

73
oh shit, RANPO DIRECTING?
IT'S OVER

Akiha's Tea Room / Re: Fastes game characters?
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:40:00 AM »
I don't know much about other games and how other characters relate to Melty Blood by if you want some speed and simplicity, I'd go for Full Moon Roa or any Roa in general. He's got the go fast, if not him then Full Moon Aoko is also fast and fairly easy to pick up.

GAMEacho VOD Progress: 60/60 = 100% - not live yet
zero3japan VOD Progress 37/~44 = ~84%

You guys are godlike ;o;
Thanks.
GAMEa-cho and zero3japan have been completed and added to the DB. They are live on the site now.
We hope you enjoy the NUMEROUS VODs of luckystar (solty) playing Nero and rakuchan playing H-Len, because I'm pretty sure they're half of the videos.
Maybe I'll try doing some stats for all the channels put together, depending on how messy they get I might just opt to skip that.
Either way please enjoy the VODs.

Shoutouts to Advent ClashMech and HateParade for contributing to the transcribing some of the VODs and a big thanks to grungrah who's been transcribing videos with me since day1.

Any plans for this but for UNIB later? That'd be cool.
You know what? On second thought, if you want to do something like that I'd glady back you on it. The biggest problem when doing a project like this is that you can't insert a video into some magical machine and let it tell you the times and when what happens. So I mean if you're willing to put in the time to transcribe UNIB vids from a-cho or wherever, I can create a database and get a sister site running for it. PM me if you're interested.
This offer is also open to anyone else that would like to do something similar for UNIB or a different game.
