Whew... theres so much to say... First off, I had soooo much fun this time around(overall... Chibi's constant "Kill Nam"'s during my matches were a bit annoying... -.-;)  I learned so much, and it was great having the New Yorkers come over to teach us a thing or two. Come back soon kay! Another thing I realized that I think its becoming fucking tradition that C3 is won by a non Virginian.

I'll start encoding the matches tomorrow, I'll probably get the majority of the vids done by the end of the week, but I have a test on thursday, so it might put a damper on things. Now, on the the obligatory shout outs.

Chibi: Hisui mirror matches are  :emo: and I really wish it wasn't the goddamn first match of the tourney(like, couldn't it have been a climatic winners finals that we meet or something, come on!) But it did show me a couple more tactics i never thought about before. Sry if my randomivity fucked you up(it tends to do that to people but only once) and THROW MORE POTS!!! I am pretty sure that my only advantage against you was the fact that I was throwing pots and you weren't.

Zar: Man, I never got to meet you in the brackets (which is probably for the best) but the casuals afterward were really fun. Even when I was losing, I was having a blast. I shall beat you... one day!

Lord Knight: Our match, even though I lost, was probably the most fun I ever had, though you may not have the same sentiment. And your match with chibi was just complete lols.

Rei: 2A on wake up IS A VIABLE STRATEGY!!! GAWD!!  ;D

B.B. Hood: You didn't win... Its just you see, the allergy medicine I took gave me a dry mouth, and EVERYONE knows that dry mouth drastically affects ones game.  Like, if I didn't have that dry mouth, you'd never have a ch :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

Xaq: I didn't get to play against you. Hope you get a good night sleep tonight.

Tiamat and VR: I'm sorry you had to fight each other >.<  It was an unforseen consequence of the brackets.

Everyone else: GEE GEESS!!!

And one last thing. I got 5th... Chibi got 4th. I beat Chibi. There is no justice in this world.   :'(

Replays:
Replays have expired. If you want the replays just give me a holler, though I think anyone who wanted them got them.

Nas, I love your shiki combos because you're the only one who does them... and they work! And your nanaya pressure is just really funny.

As an FYI, when I post vids, I think I'm going to just post them over here on this topic,Once on the first post, and I will also make a separate post announcing that the first post has been changed. I would put them all on the Kohaku Video room, but the thread intro says:
Kohaku's Video Room
The only room in the entire mansion with a television. Non-Tournament Video posts go here!

so I'm a bit reluctant.

1. I played far too aggressively in that match. You were repeating block strings that I caught up on, but wasn't punishing accordingly (a-der, let me jump every time you shove a charged 5C at the end of a combo, or not bara-books when you do 5C and THEN the entire rekka for 6C afterwards). I should have put out chair to counter pot books, and then thrown out plate, but that's life, live and learn.

Outside of that I can't say anything about your Hisui because I lost, and the fact that perhaps outside of freaking Dippy that I've already played the two 'Hisui' players in the US already and lost means I have to know MORE about who I'm playing, and less about the fact that it's a mirror match.

More then anything it keeps me going to become the best Hisui player in the US, so thank you for the match up expierence.

2. I was screaming at LK because I always get hype for my friends and I love getting hype in general. Hell, before I went to Evo I hated Veteru, but as soon team tournament started on Friday I was screaming and clapping and going nuts for the guy. I will shit talk, I will pick at everything, I'll want to slam my head into the wall, that's how just how I am with this game, but I enjoy every minute of it. That's how NYC is in general.

3.
naw...he was one of the people i came down with. I was the other, slightly worse, guy playing Arcueid and Nanaya against someone playing Hisui.....

That was me ;p. Keep at it! Your Arc was better then your Nanaya, don't give up :)!

4. This is the last time I'm going to C3 for a while, probably not until mid next year. I'm taking a break (along with Zar) in general with traveling 8+ hours to get to play people in MB. It's about time you guys started coming to us, that is if you really want to step your game up or show some dedication to the game / scene.

I had fun mind you, C3 is always fun, but I'm an old fart, and under two hours or less is all I'm willing to travel for anymore.

:P

5. 623+B really is too god damn good as an AA, and 5B is absurdly god like for a poke. This tournament proved I need to use 5B alot more, and to make use of 623+B as best I can because it was rocking fools all day. LOL at a full-screen normal getting counter hit out by 623+B. Too good.

Well, in the same respect, I left a couple 5c's unpunished as well. From what I see, you can do sooo many more things than me, its just, you mess up when doing it, and I take advantage. Plus you got predictable. I mean so did I, but I guess I caught on faster than you did. It was Get me into the corner, Blockstring, ex dust, Iad J.c, land, iad J.C, land, poke, throw. And you also spam j.2c a lot. Sometimes it worked, other times you were left open. Because of all that, I knew when the best times to heat were, because I could see you weren't trying to bait it. Though, most of my wins were from pure surprise. Like that charged pishi. No one ever uses it because it only works once. Some times not even that much.

If it weren't for the fact that I have no income and school > everything, I would probably travel to NY and play with you guys. I have friends over there anyway that I can visit afterward, but thats if school wasn't > everything

And 623 b is can also get you killed if you fuck up, and frankly, even I don't want to take that risk.

but wasn't punishing accordingly (a-der, let me jump every time you shove a charged 5C at the end of a combo
Great antiair isn't it.  :P

hey zar if possible, i'd like to get the casual match replays i had with you. i want to look at all of my errors and all of the silliness i was doing. like, teching multiple times after a throw to be thrown again (repeat x4) and doing a super getting thrown then teching and doing a super again, only to be thrown once more. that and i can look at all the accidental arc drives that were supposed to be ex flametongues. that and my flash of stupids (trying to otg after the 3 wallslam rule as opposed to using an ex flamepit). that and look at how i can improve my oki game. i could have sworn zar was able to get inside my head and read my oki's like a book within just a few matches.

EDIT: if i delete a post do i get my post count back down to 69?

well you know i come up to play you guys... as for the C3's im sure they'll be fine... we got alot of regulars going to play so im sure it'll be fine ( i thought that had something to do with buri anyway lol).... so just do ya'll thing.... oh and zar i've been doing that IAD charge c (landing early) into throw/aka low shit down nicely... can't wait till w2z or Deathburger or whatever tourney i go to next...

haha gg's to lord knight... even though i call him random sometimes... i hope dosen't take that to heart....

Just watched the match.

1. You're right, I did iad j.c a bit much, I should have mixed it up ALOT more.

2. There was still some points where you literally just stood there and I was like  :mystery:.

3. Twice I had you in the corner after throw, I put bento out, and twice you woke up with 2.A. That's why I why I get all uppity about shit like that.

4. 623+B IS REALLY FUCKING GOOD, START USING IT PERIOD. I'm really freaking serious. If you're worried about someone nailing you for it because it whiffed, keep some meter ready and cancel into ex-dust, simple as that.

5. Holy ass how many times did I forget to dodge out of 5C. Farts, that was free damage for you. I think I counted four times I just moronically jumped backwards into it.

6. Regardless of my mistakes and things I need to work on, this is the first time in a long while that I'm happy with how I played. You can tell how bloody freaking hungry I was to just kill you, just not completely empty headed as I tend to be (still, it did end up blinding me a bit).

Rei:Wait, I did?! Well, shit. That video has given me no end of trouble.
LK: Waddaya mean wtfux?

Chibi: I was just informed... oh, 2 hours before our match that 2a on wake up is a really bad habit. Habits die hard. But also, the reason why people stop doing shit like that is because it is mutually assumed that the opponent is always expecting it. Just because people stop doing stupid shit doesn't mean you should leave yourself open to it. Oh and one last thing. I stand still to just get a grasp of the situation. Another habit of mine. I don't try to syche you out or anything, though obviously, it was an unintended consequence.

And.... On weekdays, I can only see myself getting a single vid done a day. Sorry, its just the best I can do with the resources given to me. I guess I'll start on the Finals of the tourney, because thats what people acutally want to see.
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: F9|Chibi September 24, 2007, 11:47:15 AM
The reason people stop doing shit in MB is because someone better MAKES you stop doing stupid shit by going to town with you. I used to do 2A on wakeup every freaking time until it made Sp00ky and Zar mad as hell. It actually helped me to beat Sp00ky in that tournament, but Zar made me pay for it, and then I was shown why it wasn't all that hot of an idea.

Some people just immediately start panicking with that button. If someone repeatedly wakes up with it, a meaty will make sure you never do it again, or IAD jC into pain would make you think twice.

That's not to say it isn't a valid strategy. YEAH you should wake up 2.A once in a while, it's an option to go with (just as much 5.C is as anti-air). MB is weird in that even when something is working, it's a good idea not to keep doing it. Yeah that sounds stupid, but the further you can get into a guy's head when playing this game, the better.

I was actually about to give out all the replays when I got back home, which is now, hehe.

Eli's comp's Replays (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=A01109D144BC0EE3)
Nam's Comp's Replays (http://download.yousendit.com/8891C1C26E0B4433)

Give me a range of what number replays you want to do and from which comp, so we don't overlap.

MB is weird in that even when something is working, it's a good idea not to keep doing it. Yeah that sounds stupid, but the further you can get into a guy's head when playing this game, the better.
Yeah, I completely agree. Its just, iunno, I saw opportunities where you weren't expecting a 2a, and I took it. Also, I know the options I have while waking up from a bento in the corner, and it was pretty much take the tick throw like a man, jump and probably get away if I'm lucky, wake up super(which, I found out after the match, so it wouldn't help me) or try something retardedly risky. I believe my choice was obvious.

I wasn't volunteering to help w/ the rep encoding =p. I was just making that suggestion cus I'm really impatient when it comes to viewing tournament footage and easily lose hype when a wk passes and only half the footage is uploaded. Anyone that wants to help w/ the encoding (*cough* ehrik) should probably just contact you.

And instant MB player population decrease of me.

Yeah, sorry about the names. I told mags the first time we did it who was who, but this time around I assumed everyone (through telepathy or something I guess) would know everyone's names and characters. No one changed characters or colors mostly, so I can probably say everyone's name and not fuck up like last month(Sorry Tiamat and Millionz)

Nam:Hisui Color 27
Chibi: Hisui Color 1(maybe another color too. Rule of thumb, if its not 27, its chibi)
VR: Kouma
Eli: Miyako
Nas: Shiki
Tiamat: Warachia
Lord Knight: Vakiha color 2
Rei: Vakiha Color 36
Zar: Aoko
Xaq: Mecha Hisui and Arc(only against Lord Knight and I think Zar)
4r5:Sacks
Tornado Flame: Nrvnqzr Chaos
MT Fighter: Arc (color 17)
B.B.Hood: Arc (color 1)

And... I believe thats everyone.

thanks nam

I was using wara's summons like a complete retard...I think that accounted for about 80% of the times I got comboed lol...

as for VR's match...

bro I know you hadn't played in a month but this is like a higher plane of randomness you have achieved with this match, it's very clear you weren't taking it seriously but I knew that already it's just that watching the match reminds me lol.  some of it was good like the command grabs you kept landing at totally random times but other things i was like like whaa?

Honestly the main reason you lost is simply because you kept trying to command grab him for okizeme...eli likes to do wakeup 2A A LOT so that really wasn't gonna work.  gave him like 3 free combos doing that when you could just do a blockstring to get meter and punish him for waking up with 2A.  Remember what I said about how mixups in Melty blood are different than in GG...make sure you remember before you play next time

: Tiamat September 26, 2007, 01:51:54 PM
ah well whatever...the main problem still stands (crappy okizeme application and adaption) but is easily fixed

Nas:
- stop doing 623C as anti-air with Shiki...I noticed from our match that you got screwed over both times you did that cause it's air blockable and you may miss anyway...in either case you can be punished for it (and probably will be punished seeing as the only way it will hit is if they are doing an air attack)

- also with shiki at about 1:55 of our match you do a 236B on block and just guard...I think a backdash would be good there, I know I used to backdash after 236B was blocked all the time when I played shiki. saw you jumping after it was blocked in later rounds and that's good too

I'm going to do the First round, then go through the winner's bracket, up until the winners Finals, then work my way up from the loser's brackets. That way its easy for me to organize and I don't have a jumbled mess like I had in previous months. If you want to do the loser's bracket, thats fine. When I'm done with the winners brackets sans the grand finals, I'll tell you.

I've been hearing this excuse too much lately. It freaking says INVALID right after the first time he does it, that should be a sign to you to STOP doing that combo. It's a rarity for anything in MB to work TWICE, and even if it does, it's one time too much, and you should constantly be changing shit up. I'm surprised Eli didn't tech right, but if he had played Zar, Xaq, or myself, that combo would have ended after the first attempt at a rep. Outside of maybe using the ex version to kill someone you should ALWAYS end Kouma's combos with an air throw.
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: AlmightyNam September 27, 2007, 09:55:27 AM
I think what he meant was that because VR just was letting the guys wake up unpunished anyway, and even getting hit immediately after the wakeup, he'd might as well just try his luck. No one is disputing the fact that its a retarded strategy, because we already had a long retarded argument on why it is a retarded strategy last month. No need to bring the argument up again.

Anyway, VR learn Oki's so you don't have to rely on the stupidity of your Opponents... well, at least rely on it less.

alright guys, i'm actually doing casuals next time to help me remember all this :toot:

I plan to make a long excessive post about it later because once again only Nam seems to get it.

Short version: VR did not lose because he was doing the special ender to end air combos, he lost because he did his okizeme badly by thinking ahead too far of his opponent then failing to adapt
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: F9|Chibi September 27, 2007, 12:19:22 PM

I believe this match is Losers bracket Tiamat vs Master Chibi

EDIT: To me that kouma j.236b236b ender is like j.2c for Akiha and j.bb for hisui. you can punish it after tech I believe

EDIT2Z:

These comments are just IMO, don't have to take it seriously.

Tiamat: Use the alternate launcher (2c > 5c all 3 hits > j.b 1 hit > j.c > j.c > j.421c or Air Throw) Or use the lagged 6c launcher (Reccomended) because you're too far from your opponent after launch for j.421cs and when you throw with Air dash you lose an air dash which you can use to zone in on a cornered enemy after air throw. Don't play too defensively either, try to get out there more and attackz

Master Chibi: Pretty solid hisui, the only faults I can see so far is that you make random mistakes. But I haven't seen many vids of you playing so I dunno.

Oh I see
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: AlmightyNam September 27, 2007, 01:00:18 PM
Well, Hisui in general has pretty crappy pressures. The IAD is noticable enough for anyone to change their block. Hell I think I succeeded in poking your IADs out of the sky, though I'm not 100% sure, and I don't care enough to check. Thats kinda why I zone so much. That and I didn't even think of IADing to continue the block string till I saw chibi use it.
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: ehrik September 27, 2007, 01:05:34 PM
You're going to have to be careful about using IAD in blockstrings too much since people can easily smash you out of it.

Yeah, upon watching Tiamat vs Chibi, I am 100% convinced that Chibi has a Bullshit aura around him. Like, he's like Longshot, from X-men, that can inherantly change the probablilities that affect him to his favor. Like a combo that would work in any other circumstance fail not once, not twice, but 4 separate times for no good reason. Plus he gets random bullshit hits that should never have actually hit becasue its got like... a single frame that would actually hit someone without him getting hit. I don't know how you do it, but goddammit turn it off. Its not fair for the rest of us!  >:(

it's not totally useless cause it does more damage than the air throw ender (even if you don't get any invalid stuff). iirc it does somewhere between 500 and 1000 extra damage depending on the opponent character (this is doing jC into the special instead of just jump air throw).  not to say it's better than the air throw ender, but it's not useless either.

1. Hisui's pressure is fucking absurd Nam, she has some INESCAPABLE (outside of using burst) setups for christ's sake, she is scary as all hell. The way the Japanese continue to evolve with her is mind blowing. It's a hard act for me to follow, but I'm following it none the less. Eventually I'll get 'somewhere' with it ;p.

2. Zoning is fine with Hisui, but it cuts off what makes her scary (her offensive pressure). You can throw pots and try to bait shit with arc drives all day, but that's not as effective as getting ONE block string into ex-dust in the corner and then going to town. You're better off playing hit and run instead of just RUN, but that's just my opinion.

3.

That's why I said it's fine if you use it to KILL the other character, but you completely lose your momentum and positioning once you do that instead of tacking on an air-throw at the end of the combo, and Kouma NEEDS to stay in on you once he finally gets there.

I'm not going to argue with you, because I simply have no information for either side to make an argument. There are no real big name Hisui's that I'm aware of that I can study 24/7, mostly because I don't have the time(nor care enough) to look for one, and one's not glaring at my face like Yukinose for akihas for example. From watching you, the only pressure that even remotely "pressured" me was when you used the ex-dust to keep me on block while you iad+C. Your tick throw into b bento pressure setups were okay, but like... its too obvious that you were just going to pressure me, so all I had to do was block and wait for it to finish. Thats why I opt for the tick throw to a bento throw loop(unofficial name), even though through playing Zar, I'm realizing its vulnerabilities(its still useful, but not as infallable as I once thought).

But, I guess thats also a testament to our personalities, and where we are right now. I'm much more defensive. I don't want to put myself in the fray so much because I still have a blockstring that worked when charged 5C was unstoppable in my eyes. It still comes automatically for me, so to offset that, I'd much rather keep my distance as long as my pots can give me. You're definitely more aggressive(relative to me) and would rather keep on the offensive, and keep the pressure up.

Though, you're words intrigue me. Can you show me some vids of these "Inescapeable" blockstrings so I may be able to use it against you?

And to Rei: You just gotta practice more.  You mess up the combo's you really have to make natural. You definitely have the potential, but your character demands perfection.

I'm not showing you shit Nam. Seriously you just sit here and fucking argue with me everytime I bother to bring up shit with Hisui, always falling back on "that's how I play her". You already said you don't care enough to go out and look for resources on her to begin with, so I'm not even going to bother.

And yeah, my rushdown is sad right now, I got that the first time you said it, and the first time I said it. It wasn't even necessary as part of this discussion.

Eh?

I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to sound condescending, and I especially didn't want to insult you. I was asking a favor, so what would I have to gain by insulting you beforehand. I honestly believe that you have the most experience with Hisui on the East Coast.

I quit trying to argue with you ever since my embarrassment with the whole [5]c mess. My last post wasn't an argument (or at least that wasn't my intention). I just really thought that she didn't have any good pressure, so when you come up and said stuff that contradicts what I thought was right, I did an introspection as to why I said the things I said, and I typed it all out without thinking about it. Upon re-read, I'm sorry about the analyzing of your pressure. I completely lost sight of what my point was, and it was pretty uncalled for.

Plus. This statement meant that no matter how sad you think you are, you're miles ahead of me in terms of what you know, and what tactics you use. Though, No johns, I'll get better than you the next time you come over here or I come over there.

Anyway, none of what I said has to change your mind. You can still be angry at me if you want, I'll find my own vids on my own time, but I want to make sure you realize why it is that I argue with you in the first place. I absolutely think that arguments are not bad things. I love playing the devil's advocate in arguments because it makes the other person defend their argument and make sure they actually know what they're talking about, and break misconceptions that one party might have. If I said one day that wakeup 2a was the greatest thing in the world, and no one decided to argue about it, nothing would change at all. And if I got insulted and angry every time someone did argue with me, then I wouldn't learn other points of view, and I couldn't grow as a player. In fact, I wanted the Hisui thread to be a forum for people to bounce ideas around, argue, defend their point till the bitter end. In fact that is what the word "Forum" originally meant before the internet took it as its own. That way, the points that can go past all the bullshit or misconceptions(like... iunno... [5]c being a good antiair) that the other points have are the ones that both parties truly understand. I firmly believe that this is the best way(alongside experience) to get a full understanding of the character. Do you understand?

Start by studying Chibi.
I believe thats what started him being angry at me.

You don't need to play Devil's Advocate because all the work has already been done. Hisui really has evolved since ver. A, and the Japanese continue to develop her. I've recently seen vids of her where she's seemingly tech punishing into the corner from midscreen. That's scary shit.

So you don't need to argue that 5C is an anti air because it's already known to be bad. You don't need to argue that 2A is bad because it's always been bad. I constantly get on your case (and other people) because I went through allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lll that shit because I did alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll that shit. I get mad because at this point because you really are just arguing with me, though I can understand why it seems like I'm full of myself, what with my track record not being all that hot. I'm super bad at getting my point across because I'm trying to keep people from misinforming other people, but I stupidly keep at it anyway. Go figure.

Basically Chibi, I don't know anything that has been established because the Hisui subforum has pretty much no discussion. I've been going on instinct and what I've seen as effective. The only times we've ever argued is because I was the one who said something based off of my experiences. You never said anything to advance the knowledge of the Hisui community except in response to what I said, and you say it really angrily, which makes people think you're full of yourself like you already said. And then we argue, and I defend my argument as best I can, and when it falters, I learn something. If you don't want arguments to occur, either just shut up and keep all your experiences to yourself, which I hope you don't do, or let out all your experiences for everyone to learn from. You say things are established I never heard of or even cautioned against till last Saturday, and if they were established, why wouldn't they be in a place specifically for playing the character?

What I'm trying to say is, no one makes any claims about Hisui except me. My claims are pretty much always wrong, but thats the only way I am able get some discussion about my character. Start discussion about Hisui on your own, Chibi, so we all can learn from it. Don't just retaliate from what I say.

By the way, I fixed The two problem vids, and boy were they a pain in the ass. My computer blue screened a total of 4 times trying to encode Rei vs BB hood, and frankly, It wasn't worth it but its done, so what can you do  :-\. I'll try to do one more real vid today before I go to sleep.

Chibi should try shutting up and smashing faces  ;D. Even I managed to spend less time on smack-talking/preaching and more on stepping it up.

Well if that's the case what the fuck did you think you were doing making a guide in the forum to begin with?

Honestly I'd rather be the mod of the damn forum but Tom thinks otherwise so I say fuck it.

I'm not hiding anything if anyone asks, but I'm not going to bother just posting everything I know as the THIRD guide in that forum. I had one ready but that was shot after the SECOND time you put it up and I had to argue with Numakie. Some of you people have the completely wrong mindset when playing this game anyway, and I'm not about to go out of my way to fix it. Live and learn. At this point I'm not comfortable enough to say that I fully DESERVE to put up a such guide anyway, seeing as how I lost to you and Numakie, so whatever.

So yeah, I'm taking Zar's advice now.
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: AlmightyNam September 27, 2007, 09:54:40 PM
Your temper is whats stopping you from being a mod. You can't get angry at people just because they disagree with you, no matter how wrong they really are.

I made that Guide to start up some conversation. Simple as that, because otherwise it was "choosing pots". If you want to make a guide, go right ahead, and I'll get Mizuki to wipe mine from existence.

Anyway, in the mean time, I'm going to make my outrageous claims, throughout the forums, and I'm counting on you to tell me I'm stupid, especially if I actually am.

Finally, Zar, you are fucking awesome. You finish your matches quick, and never lose, which means I don't have to encode as much. I think everyone should take a lesson from him. When you win your first match, win your fucking second match, so I don't have to go through hell that all you three matchers have been giving me.  >:(

Zar's Vid will be up momentarily.

Edit: Zar's vid is up. Okay, should I bold the winner in the links or would that be just redundant because we already have the brackets up?

I used that tournament maker program that I found on this thread: Here (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/index.php?topic=595.0). We did the simple seeding arangement assuming no one was a beginner, and Zar, Xaq and LK were experts, and the rest in the middle. Nothing too special.

Well, some people have to set little goals in order to reach higher ones.

For example, you can't say, "I want to bake a cake", without first saying, "I need to buy flour." Unless you already have flour... then it... uhm... well the bottom line is that the only ingredient in a cake is flour.

If I just did jA's you can airthrow me but the jB's give some hardcizore blockstun so I land 9 hours before you. :D I'm pretty sure I got Nam and stuff with that too. What's REALLY good is that I can just sometimes IAD jB after doing ground stuff, so if you high block I can mixup, if you jump I can go for a guardbreak.  :psyduck:

Shield on the way down.

:P
That doesn't work against smart players (*cough*me) cus if they know its coming they just back off and let the descending victim suffer the landing recovery for a free punish. It's best to mixup everything really, but I think double jumping out (if you didn't already burn all your air options) is the "safest".

Options:
Come down w/ airthrow (which results in shield if they attempt an air guardbreak) --> is countered by "backing off" and punishing landing recovery

Come down w/ j.a or some other jumping normal w/ good startup and priority. Good for when you guess the opponent is waiting for an airthrow/shield attempt allowing you to take initiative when landing. --> is countered by stand shielding and retaliating w/ a fast normal that will result in CH OR using a fast normal w/ a high hitbox (e.g. akiha 5a) that will result in a CH trade OR by using a normal w/ abundant clash frames (e.g. vsion 5b) that will result in a clash followed by CH.

Avoid the guard break w/ double jump. --> is countered by opponent aerial pursuing w/ airthrow or spaming high priority jumping normals (e.g. sion j7.c).

alright but see your reasoning of why that is kinda weird.. cuse by your logic... i was losing in the match... so  i should throw becuase i have lower Health?

in both matches with you and nam..it was clear you weren't looking for a throw at all...imo... cuse all i did some block strings that i ended too far... or i just wasn't thinking about throwing...so it's like any other mixups..it's risk sometimes to keep the opponet honest.....
: Re: 9-22 C3 presents the Sion sux September Tournament Results
: Tiamat October 05, 2007, 05:12:43 PM
I thought of that too and I don't really have a good answer for it

there were a lot of spots where a throw would have worked I just think you need to be really careful about it since about 7 throws worth of damage is equaled if they 2A you for an attempted throw ONCE lol.  I'd tell you what to do but I don't really get it myself.  On one hand mixups suck in this game in general so there's little reason not to turtle the entire time...but sooner or later someone gets hit into a combo.  Now you have less life...what can you do? you either hit them with enough mixups to make up for it (which if they just block is a ton of throws) or wait for them to try to mix you up and hit them when they try to throw lol...

it's not that I wasn't looking for throws from you, it's moreso that I honestly didn't care since the damage is so low and I was up on life most of the time. from your perspective though if you "know" a throw attempt will work you should do it.  also take into account that if you know the person's habits throwing can become more safe...like if you know that a player is overly defensive and not likely to hit you out of throw attempts you should try for it more.  last time I played Reloy I was spamming Wara's summons because I knew he was a very overly defensive type player so I was pretty sure I could get away with it.

lots of rambling about nothing  :slowpoke:

Yeah, I apologize. Homework is eating me alive. Like it would have been managable if I saw it in advance, and in all honesty there is no reason why I didn't see it in advance, but I did, and now I'm looking at a 1500 word essay due tomorrow. At least, regardless if I finish it all, i'll be free tomorrow, and I'll work double time on the vids seeing that ehrik is no longer with us.

Okays, I updated the main page of the vids so far. The Winner's finals is encoding, right now, 5 matches in all, so its going to be split up into two vids. I'll get them up and a loser's match up by tonight.

Edit: Okay, the winners finals took too long so you're just getting those.

Okay... I worked totally double time today with 6 vids. One of the vids has a redundant one, but I tacked on a match that lost a replay, so I don't want to change it. Just live with it guys. Please? I'm much too tired to change it.

I agree. Nas's combos make an otherwise monotonous character interesting.

Btw, link fixed.
