American Melty III - No Homo
« on: June 08, 2008, 11:26:39 PM »
This thread is for discussing the next American Melty tournament. This is geared more towards the SoCal and Arizona regions but if you happen to be in the area when this goes down then you're welcome to participate. In order for this to go down, there are a number of issues that need to be dealt with.

- Date
- Time
- Location

So far, bellreisa has offered his place. And here are the pros and cons I see so far.
Pros: Plenty of space and setups
Cons: It's WAY down in Temecula. Out of everyone's way. Gas prices being overkill doesn't help either.

According to him, there are no other ways to Temecula besides the 91. Rush hour on the 91 at around 5:30 pm isn't so bad and it's probably only Monday and Friday when it really is. The 91/15 interchange is bad but once you get past the first mile it's pretty much all clear. Carpooling is strongly recommended because gas prices are overkill.

As of now, American Melty tournaments have only been able to go down if someone's parents were out of town. That's the trend so far. So let's get some discussion going about this because as of this moment no future WTs have been officially announced and there's a lot of time betwen now and Evo. It's a long stretch of time to go without a Melty tourney.

Also, bell is open to the possibility of IaMP and Arcana Heart side events. If there's enough interest in these, then the only obstacle for these would be time because space isn't an issue.

It would be best if everyone came during summer vacation or some other time where there are the fewest conflicts with work/classes.

I suggest that this go down on a weekend, preferably a Saturday. That's what's best for me at least. Everyone should post up on what days/weekends they're available. Obviously July 4th weekend might be a problem since that's when AX is going down.

the best would be the weekends between AX and ComicCon

AX is July 3rd-6th
ComicCon is July 24th-27th

2 week window. Of course it would be best to see when desert coast is coming down  :psyduck:

Depending on the date I may or may not be able to commit. That would also mean Arcana Heart 2.

Poll needed!

Everyone should vote on the possible weekends before Evo.

If Sp00ky and Desert Coast are coming then I believe it would have to be a 2-day event. The out of towners can crash at my place but having that many people there for just one day's worth of gaming is sort of weak.

also have fun getting that shit through security

By security I think he meant getting the AH2 setup to pass through airport security.

@bell: I'm glad you mentioned the possibility of a 2-day event. I actually had that in mind from the start but I didn't want to inquire about it right away because I thought it would be asking too much without knowing which weekends are best for the majority. As for out of towners crashing there, would living over an hour away from Temecula qualify? :-X

I'd likely go to this if I can carpool with someone driving from the Ventura / LA county areas, (I'd drive to your place and go the rest of the way with you and pitch in for gas) or anyone driving down from norcal  :toot:. I'd definitely need to crash at your place, Bell, as the drive is really far for me.

Also, would bringing Guilty be a good idea, or are we primarily sticking with Melty?

Also interested. I don't play Melty anymore, but learning some IaMP and AH would be worth it.

I'd be in Soniti's car, so I guess if he's winds up crashing there, I'd need to also (not to impose or anything).

Seconding Guilty too. Casuals at least.

EDIT: Forgot to include this, but weekends work best for me since I work Mon-Fri with extremely little chance of getting time off. --;

GG casuals is nice although there's already plenty of play for GG in general. We can leave this up to everyone's opinion though, since it wouldn't hurt.

I have like two empty rooms right now so people can bring sleeping bags or whatever if they needed to stay over. If you squeeze in tight you could probably fit four or five people in a room but I'd really recommend against that since it's probably easier to stay in the living room on the couches, or in the gameroom with the futon or the La-Z-Boys. I'd say I can probably accomodate 8-10 people overnight in comfortable conditions, more in sort-of-cramped/sleeping on the floor conditions.

It doesn't matter to me who stays over, but obviously priority should be given to anyone actually coming from out of state. I'd still need a solid headcount before I begin making any sort of decisions.

Games being held don't matter to me either, it's your event and I'm just providing the venue. Obviously getting some IaMP and Melty play would be in the interest of most people there since, as someone mentioned, GG already has stuff going on for it in the SoCal area that isn't quite as far off as my place.

bell's La-Z-Boys are fucking godlike.

H-F Blade's avatar actually makes Saki look attractive (!!).

If Sp00ky actually made it out here I would take time off to make this.
