Upon further contemplation, I am now reconsidering this event, primarily because it really does look like a lot of mb people are going to be there, and I feel we would be insulting them to not go. However this leaves me in a conundrum. I don't have enough money to go to both events, Evo mb is not official which means we'd be running some wacked out side tourney and have to keep looking everywhere for people, run it late at night and end up like last years evo, or something worse.

I don't really know what to do. I'm very confused, and the division between the U.S. and Japan does not help, as well as the arcade version not being available in many places. I'm very frustrated and most of it is not anyone's fault. Do we go to japan to gain the experience and bring it back to the us? Do we cancel our last chance quals spot and pray that Japan has the game again next year, instead of trying to be divisive?

I can see at least one upside to going to Evo instead of SBO: it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'd vote in favor of SBO since you'd be bringing back firsthand knowledge of Japanese strategies and matchups to the US. It's the main reason why FFA became so good in 3rd Strike.

While I would love the chance to play Spooky and/or Zar at Evo, I think they should keep focused on keeping ahead and challenging Japan, not lagging behind and babysitting us in Vegas.

QFT

Spooky, don't worry bout Evo man.  You and Zar need to hit up SBO and let them realize that we do have players over here worthy of a US qualifier for next year!  Besides, NOT getting a taste of Japanese strats and bringing em back to the rest of us is much more of a disservice to us than not bringin it to everyone at Evo.

Go enjoy the hell out of yourselves at SBO and Japan man, don't worry about us at all.

I'll do my best to have Evo East / Worlds covered for MB, whether it's one tournament or three days worth of casuals, it'll be there, I promise.

Gotta think of the goal in mind. Seems like your goal is to get better and see if you guys can compete at their level, and well surely you can't do that over here.

If I had to choose between going to Evo Vegas and going to SBO I would go to SBO in a heartbeat. I can't miss the opportunity of hopefully seeing you and Zar coming out on the SBO stage together getting ready for a quarterfinal match. Get out there and do us proud!

evo doesn't have a formal mb event, so there is no real winnings incentive or possabilities there, just fuck it go to sbo, and try to boost us image for a game that is otherwise mostly ignored in the US.
I mean it's a possible way to invest for the future of mb versus the short term visiting of seeing all the players, unless you want to go roadtrip on that evo shit.

I have big plans for MB at evo.  I'm not quite sure what they are yet though.  I'm considering getting a laptop and a projector and having it a big screen showcase on the wall or something.  Also thinking of throwing money at this to get more entrees.  My current goal is 50 entrees.

I'll do my best to round up locals.  I'm pretty sure that 4 others besides myself will be entering if you do get shit going.  I'll help out however I can too, so don't hesitate to ask for whatever.

Yo guys, since I'm going to be helping running this shiet I just want to know what people will be using if your going to enter the PC tourney. Since I'm letting my laptop be used, and if other people on here are lending the laptops I just want to know what drivers we need so we don't have to connect to the internet last minute to download drivers. Thanks.

IIRC, the built-in windows XP drivers should suffice. Anyone feel free to correct me if this is not the case.
