i prolly wont be able to make the melty tourney, but im gonna do what i can to get those hours off. Ill be at the arcana and the GNT4 tourneys tho.

As long as it doesnt conflict with arcana, i have no problems with that. Is there a specific reason/time?

Melty Blood:
Saturday @ 2PM
Rules: Double Elim 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches until winners/losers final, which is 3/5 matches. GF will be 4/7 matches.
Act Cadenza ver B
No banned characters
Entry Fee $5

I'll be bringing my own TV and Laptop for this setup, so it doesn't interfere with the official tournaments. And as said before, if called for the official tournaments, those take #1 priority. But yeah, i'll be running these, so hopefully all goes well. Melty was Friday last year, but the few people who responded to me on meltybread said Sat was better, so i'm going with that.

I would bring a portable USB keyboard if you have one, otherwise I dont see the problem with using a keyboard (personally, tho you REALLY should start using a controller of some sort...)

You SHOULD be able to just use a controller there?

Unless you plan on playing on an arcade machine, you dont really need to know stick.

Quote from: Kelong
To me, fighting game = 80% mind game, 20% execution.

This can be both true and false.

Different fighting games have different elements that factor in differently

Tekken =
40-50% Tekken Fundamentals (spacing, blocking, throw breaking, whiff punishing, poking)
10-20% Mindgames and gimmicks
30-40% Execution

at least that's sorta how i view that game
Depends on your character.

I play Asuka, so execution is like, 10% because she's got like, the easiest juggles in the game. Its not like i get a juggle starter and go "o i dunno if ill hit my combo cause its soooooo hard". Every character has a few things that are a bit difficult, but that depends on character.

Well, no matter how good anyone thinks they are, we all would still get knocked out first round at SBO, so we all suck anyways. And yes, this includes myself, anyone who may have won national tournaments, or large FT10 matches.

Seriously, why don't you guys just focus on getting better as a community instead of fighting all the time? Then again, what do i know about being good, im just a scrub... :blah:

Chibi - Our 2 casual matches were sooooo hype. It was awesome, and that was the most fun i had playing melty in a LONG time.

Voomer - Mad GG's in the smash room with casuals. That was too fun,  and its so hard for me against a good Nrvnsqr, so that's exactly what i need to play against. :D

I gotta mash more 2A. I think i block too much... ::)

Nigga you walked out of the room after the money match and left the entire cup with the money and your wallet in the room for over an hour. You're absurdly lucky noone walked off with it, real talk
Omg no doubt. That was way too much money in way too public of an area.

And i got a pimp cup too. :D

Jiyu - Me and chibi tied for 5th. And i wouldn't say choco owned me, nor would i say i owned choco, they were all pretty close iirc.

GG's to choco, glad i put up more of a fight this time around than i did at NEC.

GG's to Jiyu, you played too solid, couldn't break through your strong defense.

GG's to everyone else i played, as well.

Me vs Choco random char $1 matches are too good.

Akiha's Tea Room / Re: Why can't America win SBO?
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:29:38 PM »
Wow, nobody gave the easier answer:
Cause there's a ton of Japanese people in SBO and only one American?

By statistics alone the American most likely wont win.

Then you have to factor everything else in. Why don't girls generally win tourneys? Cause if a girl is there, she's probably completely outnumbered anyways. Being a girl AND being really good is much harder than just being really good or being a girl at a tourney.

Same with SBO. Its hard enough winning SBO for anyone, but to be American and win is way harder.

Pretty much sums it up IMO

Let's analyze things according to your statistics then.
There were 3 American teams entering SBO Japan for Tekken.  MYK/KaNE/ChetChetty and Mr. NAPS/Spero Gin/????? I forget the rest of the teams.
There were 2 Korean teams (I think) for Tekken.  qudans/200won/NIN and Lee Mario/Help Me/G-Unit.
I believe there was only one UK team I think. Ryan Hart/Tissuemon/Cris
And well clearly there's a whole freaking grip of Japanese teams that I'm not even going to bother with trying to list.

So here we go:
All 3 American teams were eliminated first round.
The 2 Korean teams mentioned tied for 3rd.
The single UK team did relatively well and eventually lost to qudan's team.
1st and 2nd went to Japanese teams.

anyone wanna do the honors of finding the results for 3S?  Google search has failed me.

and Thana, you need to chill out and not put words into Dae's mouth.
Nobody issued a challenge to you, so quit beating your gorilla chest and saying you'll smoke him.  You probably would, but that's not what we're here to discuss, so save that for another time.
USA has plenty of potential, but are we using it to it's fullest?
I say no, we can do MUCH better than we're doing now.
Add that to the fact that there's more people that play in a small radius in Korea, too then. Keep in mind that Slips and Matador did a FT20 and went like, 18-20 Madator's favor.

Now if you look at Korea, them sending team Korea and Earth Reps were picked out of a HUGE number. The qualifier for the US didn't have nearly that many people.

In all honesty, my reason isn't the ONLY one, but that in addition to the lack of large amounts of people playing often at high level (at least not nearly as much as Japan/Korea) is also a huge hit.

But FetZ got 3rd in 2002 at SC2. That was when we WERE playing games in the arcade all the time and stuff, and if we had sent over more people, we would have had a way better chance. Instead, it was all down to ONE guy and he made it all the way to 3rd. That was more where i was going. As long as we have the potential to win in the first place (which we lacked in tekken) then it comes down to ONE MATCH which is almost luck if you ask me.

LK that requires more than one or two people that play certain characters...lol...

A Len team won, good for them.

Kubo's team lost 2nd round. :(

I suppose having the two top players of each character doing a FT5 against each other character might suffice. Would take a really long time though.
That judges the players, not the characters.

That chart is great, you get to see diff opinions from the top players regarding their characters and matchups.

I just find it funny how the guy who won SBO pretty much has the lowest score out there listed for Satsuki.

If we go by that list, Ciel is #1, Warc #2, Sion #3, Hisui #4, Len #5

Crazy.

Sled:
the order is:
Sion
V.Sion
Ciel
Arc
Warc
Akiha
V.Akiha
Hisui
Kohaku
Hisui/Kohaku
Mech Hisui
Shiki
Nanaya
Miyako
Nrvnqsr
Warakia
Satsuki
Len
Aoko
Kouma

Brandon - Nah, you didn't come off as mad at me. You said good shit afterwards and you were a good sport about it. You were just frustrated, which happens to all of us. With all the cuteness of my room and the home field advantage, my power level was over 9000. :slowpoke:

There were like, 40 people there.

We only took reps of like, the final 4, but they're on my computer. Ill send them to Shardz to get them online or something.

And Damien (aka Thugish Pond) is probably the best SC player in the country, so losing to him was to be expected.

BTW sled, I think i have your converter at my house, PM me if the magic joybox blue thing is yours, and ill mail it back to you.
