At least this confirms that it won't be PS2 perfect. Do you think there is a chance the game could get ported to a next-gen console? They would have a REALLY hard time releasing another PS2 port, but are probably reluctant to release a PC port. Look at SSF4, they could have a pc port out on the same day as 360 and PS3 but they won't due to piracy. If we rule out PC and PS2, is there a chance we could get some next-gen console melty? Perhaps on PSN or XBLA download services? I don't think it's farfetched, and we'd be finally free of the fucking lag the PS2 ver sometimes has.

I'm a nobody in Croatia and I wouldn't be able to netplay anyone in reasonable delay even if there was netplay, but I'll post an image expressing my contempt for people that have a scene.

Thanks for your input. From here on out any more threadshitting will result in deleted posts and whimsical bans. Let's keep it on topic, like how the hardware is not going to be Naomi but Ringwide, which is an XP-embedded system that would make a PC port a closer reality than before.

Okay, now this just seems dumb. MBAA's main appeal was that it was a current game on NAOMI, meaning arcade owners didn't have to throw out or severely lower the prices on their shitty obselete NAOMI cabinets. I don't see any point in porting it to another system, and I'm curious to know how many arcade owners would be willing to shell out on entirely brand new cabinets for what is essentially a minor update to the game. Obviously the big famous arcades that you see on your dumb little nico vids will, but I dunno if the same can be said for the small guys.

"hi im waiting for a pc por-"

No shut up, go outside and travel to a local scene, just because you're allergic to the sun doesn't mean jack shit, that's why they make umbrellas, you'll still be pale and pasty. OH WAIT PEOPLE ASKING FOR A PC PORT DON'T DO JACK SHIT FOR THIS COMMUNITY ANYWAYS.

It's simply too hard to get hype for a game that I can only play with other people 5-6 times a year. Seriously, the very concept of such a thing is laughable. Someone living in NYC can't say shit about wanting a PC port and lack of scene, but you guys need to realise that America isn't the only country where shit matters. Europe as a whole is bigger than America, but for the most part none of the countries communicate much with each other, partly due to language barriers and partly due to other bullshit. In EU MB scene, almost everyone is british. We got a few swedish dudes and a few finnish dudes but that's about it. Hardly anyone from mainland. I know that France has a fucking huge FG scene but I've never spoken to them nor know where they hang out. For america its easy, everyone goes to SRK forums, everyone goes to evo, everyone knows about NEC and seasons beatings and fucking west coast warzone and all this other shit, and even if they can't go they can get in on the hype. In europe we don't have that, the various countries don't wanna communicate with each other. We can start building these links with france and other countries, but we need a starting point, and that has to be netplay. With that as a basis, we can try to gather EU players in one place, get more EU players to travel and build bigger scenes throughout the country and the continent. But we need a starting point, and even then it's nearly impossible. Neo Empire couldnt even get jack shit to travel for SF4. there were like 20 foreign players tops at BoD a year and a half ago, and probably like 5 at SvB this year. Sweden used to be the top country in EU for GG and GG is dead now and so is sweden, practically. All the swedish guys I know complain that their scene is dead. It's easy to talk shit about america cause you can fuckin drive anywhere, just make a big road trip. In EU you gotta fly and you need a passport, you can't compare it.

tl;dr: maybe you guys dont need netplay in america but guess what the world doesnt revolve around america

MBAA FT: I'm still confident this will build on the PS2 version rather than porting it, and I would be very surprised if we didn't see any new characters, even if it's just a balanced version of archetype earth. I would play the shit out of that, she was so much fun in PS2, but obviously unusable in serious play. If they tweaked her to play the same but be less broken I'd be all over that shit. I'd also like to see them fix some of the practically useless character/moon combos, such as H-Wara. At the end of the day it's just a loketest and we shouldn't take anything for granted until release, I wouldn't be surprised if Ecole had surprises in store for what will most certainly be the final MB game.

Does anyone else think this previously unheard-of update might be a kneejerk reaction to the unexpected popularity of the game, or maybe even a solid push to get the game at Tougeki next year? I've heard stuff that Tougeki is trying to modernise (much like EVO trying to have current-gen games only) and that's whats keeping MB out.

its kind of widely accepted that we shouldnt put tons of stupid foreign shit on nicovideo since if it becomes a big problem they'll start blocking certain foreign IP ranges and we'll have to fuck around with proxies just to watch nico

anyway my point is that theres nothing wrong with teruta uploading vids of him playing MB on nicovideo since he's been there a long time and has a following so it's relevant, whereas the NEC vids dont really have a place on there.

tbh we could probably change mauves mind if we just got everyone who wants netplay to chip in like 10 bucks and he'd make mad bank off doing it but most of the netplay scene is scumming leeching assholes so that probably wont happen

why am i seeing vids of stinky sab or nec footage on nico

do u have any idea how annoying that is to look at
the vids of me and the other UK players were uploaded by teruta, a well known japanese player who is studying over here and has been uploading mb vids on his nico for ages

shut up faggot
doesn't change the fact it's still UK
lolol

so you're saying its not okay for japanese people to upload videos to nicovideo because they have foreigners in them

No PC port, no hype.

I don't understand this shit at all.

The PS2 port has always brought in more people to the community, it makes running tournaments undeniably easier, and now we'll literally be playing the same game as Japanese (for those that care).

Why bother waiting for the PC version? You realize mauve is NOT making a client for it, right?

Stop waiting and start fucking playing. This year's NEC proved to me that 'oh my scene has noone' don't mean jack shit anymore.

It gets a lot easier to say this when you actually have local scene. I'm curious to know if you'd be saying the same thing if your closest casual competition was 6 hours and $100 away.

the nanaya is fucking trash, he cancels 2C instantly instead of letting himself move forward using it, and pushes himself away so far he forces himself to do a fucking shitty ghetto iad to get back in range, which you can fucking probably beat by mashing 5b (or a safer option, 623C) on reaction. keep doing this and force him to learn to iad properly, but this still won't be a problem for you as long as he's so predictable in his whiff cancels that you can just 5B him every time you read a 5A correctly. his 2B will beat your 5B though so depending on his habits you may want to simply neutral jump, this is kind of bad for vsion  because your only low-angled air attack is j.A which will lose to his j.A if he's good enough to use it right (hint: he isn't. spam that shit). eventually the nanaya will probably get his pressure right but by that time your pressure should also be advanced enough to the point where whoever knocks whoever else down first wins (hint: nanaya will win. he has a dp)

Melty Blood Auditorium / Re: MBAA Tiers
« on: October 13, 2009, 12:18:49 PM »
I still think it's retarded to tier characters like that, characters should be tiered as an overall basis of all their styles, since you can switch styles after winning, a character with a lot of variation between their styles is at an advantage since they can adopt to matchups. For example I would consider Arc a very good character in that all her styles are pretty good and fairly different, although none of them are top tier, but it gives her an advantage over chars that only have 1 good style.

Putting that aside this tierlist is stupid-retarded and furthers my opinion that tierlists are nothing more than objective bias shit and people should think for themselves and form their own opinions, but despite that there will be tons of retards who take this as gospel because the japs said it.

38
I played on a satpad thumbs-style for a while. It's perfectly doable. Make sure if you're going to buy one that you also buy a spare. They're kind of fragile.

The only thing H really has that's interesting are the multiple knife throw combos as a result of air catching.

The loop is dumb.  He did what, 6 or more reps of it to only get 5k?  Pretty lame if you ask me.

uhhh there are people on this very forum that trained to do 6+ reps of a certain OTG string of a certain Shit character just to run down the timer

thats before we even get into stuff like arcueid relaunches

42
On the MBAA site, what does it say in archetype's profile page?

~ 2ab5c3c 22a 2b5c3c 236b 236/214b 2/3 guard bar right there. didn't try 236c ender instead of double rekka. airtight.
236c is garbage guard dmg, dont use it for anything except reversals imo

i spoke to you on irc so i know that neither of us can play MBAA for a while, but i really want to test out throwing an instant heat on the end of that and going into it 1 more time, that should be a guaranteed guard crush. don't forget you can charge the middle rekka hit for a LOT more guard bar dmg.  if you're in MAX it should be fairly easy to guard crush with one airtight string, which is yet another amazingly good use for ryougi's meter

Shiki Ryougi / Re: F-Ryougi Thoughts Without a Thread
« on: August 23, 2009, 04:24:44 AM »
i've also been playing f-ryougi all weekend, only against a couple of other EU players so i''m probably at a lower level but i'll throw in some thoughts.

~crappy ground dash doesn't really mean anything. i find myself moving around by IAD exclusively. sometimes from fullscreen, ground dash into 2C 3C can be useful, but the majority of the time you just want to spam IAD j.B to make yourself a gigantic fast-moving offensive hitbox.

~like s-blade said, no mixups, but her guard dmg is disgusting. 2C 3C 236B 236(B) 236A will take off 1/3rd of crescent guard bar. if they're getting mash-happy when you charge, change to half-charge. if they have a good move for interrupting rekkas, either make them airtight or introduce very small gaps, depending on what kind of reversal we're talking about. another option is to do 236A 214A rekka, with no delay, to beat all low pokes and almost all slow pokes

~unlike s-blade i never use the throwing knife, mostly because i keep forgetting i have it. eu scrub melty represent

~ryougi was literally made for american reset. you can end combo in airthrow or j.236, or you can simply end it in fucking j.C, land, neutral superjump and keep hounding them in the air. i'm fairly sure noone in the cast can deal with ryougi j.C when she's below them, and i very doubt anyone has a good way of dealing with her j.B in horizontal terms

~236C is atrociously fast, and can punish a lot of f-moon string enders that leave people at very slight frame advantage. you can also use it as a reversal, but it has no i-frames, so make sure you know what you're doing. experiment with it, because it punishes so much. block a satsuki 22b? help yourself to free damage! some fag jumping in on you? free damage! sick of nero and his doing EX crows and then sealing your movement with some gay move? free damage! this move is ridiculously good and you can afford to spam it just for the purpose of experimenting, since it's almost totally safe on block. the only thing they can do is bunker the last hit. they absolutely cannot punish you with any kind of regular combo. no bunker cancels in this game. so whenever you see something that looks like slight disadvantage on block, throw out 236C and just find out for yourself. the worst that could happen is you'll eat a bunker

~TKing is a lot easier in this game, and you might find j.236 works well for beating shit out. if you got some fag spamming low pokes and your 214 goes over him, try giving him a taste of TK j.236

~back to combo enders, i personally never end my combo in airthrow, partly because its a sucky airthrow, and partly because ryougi really cant do much from it even if it didn't suck.  since i play ryougi by constantly running the fuck away and trolling people with j.B, j.C, and 236C, i end all my aircombos in j.236B, and then charge meter until they get near me

~speaking of meter, ryougi has a lot of choices on how to use her meter. j.236C is not worth it after a full combo, but if you landed a random abare j.B j.C j.B j.C and do 236C, you can get an extra 1k or so, and you will land j.B in air-to-air a LOT. 236C is good for practically anything except combos. 214c is probably good idk i dont use it. same for 22c. but, if you're playing F, you need to choose between using these awesome EXs, or using her fucking awesome BHAD, because her arc drives are fucking amazing. here imma put them in a seperate section

~ARC DRIVE: okay, here is the best way to think of her arc drive: it's a command throw with fucking gigantic range and more startup. once the flash hits and the lines appear, they can't do anything. it's 0f after flash, or maybe i should say they get hit during EX flash? either way, if they're in a throwable state when the arc drive flash happens, and they're in range, that is guaranteed damage. absolutely guaranteed. the BHAD is a LOT faster. I told you to think of it as a throw, so do some throw setups. C and H can do some whiff cancel shit to tick into it, but F has to be more creative. Here's an example, if you've been doing a lot of 2C 3C into rekkas, try doing 2C 3C, let it recover, then BHAD. or do 2 rekkas, stop, then BHAD. pretty much any setup that you would use to setup a throw, will also work for setting up this. the regular AD's longer startup makes it much harder to use, but you can do some fucking amazingly gay shit like 5A tick into AD. If you do this then your opponent will probably pick up his stick and lodge it into your skull so watch out!

~ properly spaced, j.B will beat warui ne clean in air-to-air. this is important since f-nanaya seems to be the most popular char for scrubs atm. if you have very good react speed, 5B can beat warui ne from the ground, but you need to do that shit EARLY, son. other options include 236C, but it needs careful timing. the aa parry might beat it, who knows

~havent messed around with the parries at all. i guess they're okay but they'll take a lot of skill and experience to use properly. considering f ryougi has no "real" reversal, and can't rely on heat activation, being good with the parries will probably become a requirement to play a good f ryougi.

also i'll be uploading MATCH VIDEOS later so watch this space, my f-ryougi is really bad but at least you'll get an idea of some of the concepts behind her basic play

Is this happening to anyone else?

Try unchecking allow 8-bit textures. A friend of mine had the same problem, and that was the problem  :psyduck:

Sorry but that didn't fix it at all.  I tried running it in software mode and the pixels come back but it's laggy as hell.  Anyone know why this might be?

What graphics hardware do you have?

Dammit I suck too much at fighting games to land that consistently fucking tight 236B into 5B timing.
Of course you fucking can't, you've been trying for just 1 day. Arc's MBAC wallslam/relaunch shit had bigger windows than 3f and it takes a lot of people weeks to get it down.

Revamped the OP yet again. Made the new gsdx stand out more, included info on configurating video/sound, included info on speed hacks for fags with shit computers. Unless a revelation in sound processing comes along, this should be final.

48
Runs great!  The scan lines on the health bars/portrait and meters are slightly annoying, but I can live with it.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+
GeForce 8800GTS

Your system is fairly similar to mine, I reccomend trying out the new GSDX. The OP has been updated several times so check it again, it might have changed since you last saw it. GSDX with "blend" interlacing looks identical to MBAC PC.

EDIT: IMO we have pretty much totally covered video it's about as good as it's going to get. Does anyone have any reccomendations for sound? either new plugins, or new settings for the existing plugins.

Again, concerning the HCB+C rush attack, is it actually useful? it seems like it could be easily bunkered and you would lose your attacking momentum. I dunno how easy it is to dodge/bait bunkers using it, though.

I guess with careful staggering and some yomi you could probably bait and punish bunkers but i don't feel like spending 100% on a forward run when i could just bait and punish bunkers for free, probably for more damage
